CRADLE OF FILTH are a British Gothic, blackened extreme metal band with a nearly 30 year history of haunting dark corridors.
ITP V.021 has CRADLE OF FILTH'S latest release "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE".
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" kicks off with "THE FATE OF THE WORLD ON OUR SHOULDERS", a dramatic and ominous, symphonic instrumental piece.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S . "EXISTENTIAL TERROR" features back up vocals from a choir, but let that fool you. . "EXISTENTIAL TERROR" segues into some tasty riffing and DANI FILTH's trademark shrieks. . "EXISTENTIAL TERROR", almost nu metal riffing is coupled by mild symphonics and blast beats..At 3:29 "EXISTENTIAL TERROR" breaks for some symphonic spoken word and segues into some melodic technical blackened extreme metal riffs."EXISTENTIAL TERROR" is performed tight, with conviction.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "NECROMANTIC FANTASIES" opens in dramatic fashion with back up female vocals, symphonic arrangements and melodic guitar riffing.Underneath all of the pretty symphonics, ."NECROMANTIC FANTASIES" features some convincing riffing and solos.. .
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "CRAWLING KING CHAOS" is pure METAL featuring blast beats and definitive, almost melodic death metal riff within a symphonic arrangement.Drummer "MARTHUS" does a great job varying the blast beats. At 2:14, "CRAWLING KING CHAOS .takes off into flight with a symphonic chorus, definitive thrash riffs and blastbeats for a well performed musical journey.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "HERE COMES A CANDLE.... (INFERNAL LULLABY) " is a minute and a half, symphonic, piano instrumental piece. A half way through the album breather.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "BLACK SMOKE CURLING FROM THE LIPS OF WAR" features excellent drumming with female operatic back up vocals and a almost rehashed from the track "EXISTENTIAL TERROR", until CRADLE OF FILTH prove all wrong with some technical and tightly performed riffing. .
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "DISCOURSE BETWEEN A MAN AND HIS SOUL" enters in as a melodic ballad of sorts with piano, lush symphonic arrangements and IRON MAIDEN like melodic guitars. Pretty track.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "THE DYING OF THE EMBERS" opens with the typical British campy female spoken word as the track slowly builds behind some good, almost nu metal, melodic riffing..DANI FILTH's charismatic delivery, coupled with some quality drumming make "THE DYING OF THE EMBERS" an underrated track.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "ASHEN MORTALITY" is an ominous, symphonic instrumental.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "HOW MANY TEARS TO NURTURE A ROSE?" is a melodic banger with a lingering guitar solos, symphonic arrangements and some interesting riffing....DANI FILTH'S shrieks adorn "HOW MANY TEARS TO NURTURE A ROSE?" with some crusty thrash riffing as the track gallops into a new galaxy. .
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "SUFFER OUR DOMINION" enters in with acoustic strumming and is a campy take on population control. "SUFFER OUR DOMINION" features melodic, metal core riffing segued into dramatic shifts of dissonance. Lyrically "SUFFER OUR DOMINION" mulls mass extinction of the human race, perfect for the COVID19 age.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "US, DARK, INVINCIBLE" is a thrash banger, performed tight with a light symphonic arrangement and perfect drumming.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "SISTERS OF THE MIST" is epic old school CRADLE OF FILTH, neo romantic with technical, melodic guitar riffs, blazing blast beats, symphonic organs and enough variety to satisfy all extreme metal fans. I love the church organs.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" closes with "UNLEASH THE HELLION" featuring complex symphonic arrangements and epic, punky breakdowns as the track is truer to the bands black metal origins. . .
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" melds nihilistic lyrical content with Gothic romantic sentiment. CRADLE OF FILTH have added melodic death and Nu metal riffing, although the riffing speaks volumes when the band simply thrash out.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" gains momentum three tracks in as the band balances symphonic arrangements with a variety of thrash riffing and (as always with CRADLE OF FILTH drummers) an excellent performance by drummer "MARTHUS" behind the skins.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" is aptly titled considering the state of world health and the environment and it's a cool nihilistic title and pun.
CRADLE OF FILTH'S new keyboardist and female vocalist "ANNABELLE" fulfills the role with majestic orchestral arrangements and campy operatic vocals and spoken word.
While CRADLE OF FILTH'S "EXISTENCE IS FUTILE" is no classic it's a return to form that we've been waiting on for the better part of a decade.
