It is with the saddest of hearts, we have to announce, that our brother and dear friend Stian ‘Ben Hellion’ Andreassen, passed away on December 8th.

As a lot of you know, Stian was a ‘free spirit’ and a rock’n roller at heart.

And he loved traveling the world, meeting you all, having a beer and a ‘brawl’ if he could. No matter who you were, he would be your buddy. And it is in this spirit we wish to remember Stian! Always straight forward, to the bone and to the point. And always with a quick remark to break the ice.

Forever loyal if he believed your cause, and a true brother for us privileged to have worked side by side with him.

Stian came into the music scene very early, and already at 13-14 he was the right hand and closest allied to the then forming band Gehenna. He even took a stint at publishing the Genocide Metal magazine, before, years after he took up the guitar himself, and he never looked back!

His 12 years with Nocturnal Breed, set him firmly on the map as a true metal guitarist and a riffer and creator. And his classics like ‘Give’em Hell’ and ‘Fields of Rot’ have shaken many ‘a heads throughout the world. As has it inspired a lot of young musicians, as we have seen from all the feedback over the years.

And for the band; A backbone and a force to be reckoned with. Always driving the process forwards, and always willing to sacrifice for the greater picture. And this stood to respect and admiration! A soldier truly worthy of his place in the trenches as we travelled life and the world together.

Sadly, the decision to choose his own path, to the very end, was his own…

And though utterly hard for his family, they have decided to be open about this. And our love and deepest compassion goes to all those who held him closest.

We will honour and remember Stian through the greatest of times and memories and through his music. We should respect his decision, no matter how dark and unreasonable it might seem, and remember him as the genuine soul and creative ‘Hellion’ he was!
