The American stylistically highly diverse act instigated by multi-instrumentalist Scott Conner have created a kaleidoscopic double-album that is ranging from acid folk to black metal.
FROM BLACK METAL DAILY (FACEBOOK):
Artist: Xasthur
Year: 2023
Xasthur has returned to black metal! Well... partially at least, as for his tenth, double full-length album 'Inevitably Dark' Malefic brings us twenty three tracks that span a multitude of genres, some of which are apparently black metal. Those "black metal" tracks are not streaming yet, but you CAN listen to the title track below and marvel at the archetypal Xasthur sound's metamorphosis into a type of bleak, dungeon synth-esque dysphoria that wouldn't be too far off what you'd imagine he'd conjure in a split with modern day Striborg. Oh and the album has quite detailed lyrics for each track, inspired by the time Scott was living in hotels or cars and his observations into the underbelly of the American dream... but there are no vocals on the entire album.
An intriguing proposition from the USBM legend, releasing on LP and CD June 23rd via Prophecy Productions. Looking forward to hearing the entire piece... it will, of course, be inevitably dark. Hails.
