The new album is here at last!
"The Glow of a Distant Fire", the 9th album from The Howling Void, is out now. You can grab a digital copy, or get the CD from Solitude Productions in Russia or Ardua Music in Europe. This album was written in a flash of inspiration during this past winter, at a time when I didn't really know if I'd be able to find the motivation to write another album.
Once the inspiration struck, the album was written in about two weeks. The style definitely has hints of the past, especially "The Womb Beyond the World" and "Nightfall", but overall, I think the songwriting has evolved quite differently on this album. It was written at a pretty difficult time in my life, but as the album was being mixed and mastered, things got even MORE difficult. Without going into specifics, I went through an extremely dark time and have finally begun to emerge, it seems (though each day is a struggle still). Just in time for the album to see the light of day. I am hoping that this portends good things for the future.
I hope you enjoy the album. As always, my vision of funeral doom blends darkness with light. Hopefully you will find something to enjoy. Special thanks to my good friend Shane Elwell for recording drums on this album.
