THE UPCOMING OVERTHRUST WINTER METAL MANIA FEST 2026 IS SET TO ARRIVE IN STYLE!
Vulture Thrust Arts and Entertainment, powered by Indian River Music Company, together with Total Silence (Germany) and Luca Piazzalonga of Vigljos (Switzerland), in collaboration with Molapo Creative Hub (Gaborone), If Not Why Club (Letlhakane), and Masters Valley (Maun), proudly present the 17th Anniversary Overthrust Winter Metal Mania Fest – Tour Edition. This historic tour edition is one of its kind, designed to take the festival beyond a single location and into multiple communities across Botswana. It offers touring international bands a rare opportunity to engage directly with local audiences, fostering cultural exchange and deep musical interaction throughout the country. The line-up is steadily building and already features @Vigljos (Switzerland), Overthrust (Botswana), Remuda rock band (Botswana) and Raven In Flesh, with more acts to be announced. Scheduled for 28–31 May 2026, the tour’s main event will take place in Ghanzi, the home ground of Overthrust and the birthplace of Overthrust Winter Metal Mania Fest itself. This makes the event special significant, as Ghanzi holds a vital place in the history of the Botswana and Southern African metal scene. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements.

MOTORHEAD: TEN YEARS AGO TODAY WE LOST LEMMY KILMISTER

Ten years ago today we lost  LEMMY KILMISTER, (bassist, vocalist of British metal warriors MOTORHEAD) ...

 PHIL CAMPBELL and MIKKEY DEE, surviving members of British metal legends MOTORHEAD were at a ceremony at HELLFEST OPEN AIR 2022 for the unveiling of the LEMMY KILMISTER statue and enshrinement of his ashes. .

 LEMMY KILMISTER (IAN FRASER) passed away 12/28/2015 to cancer at 70. 

 MOTORHEAD unleashed the bands anticipated live release "CLEAN YOUR CLOCK", 5/27/2016 (CD/DVD/BLUE RAY) via UDR MUSIC.

CHUCK SCHULDINER (DEATH): CHUCK WAS A SCULPTOR

According to his father, CHUCK SCHULDINER Florida, U.S.A. death metal pioneers DEATH was a sculptor as his father has finished off his pieces. 

 

 DEATH  have posted a snippet of main man CHUCK SCHULDINER'S cover of  MADONNA'S "FROZEN"..

DECIBEL BOOKS is set to release an official CHUCK SCHULDINER autobiography,  "BORN HUMAN: THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF CHUCK SCHULDINER" , due to be unleashed 11/2025 (release date T.B.A.)  and authored by DAVID E GEHLKE. 

 

 CHUCK SCHULDINER died 12/13/2001 from cancer. 

 Chuck Schuldiner and his various groundbreaking extreme metal projects: DEATH, CONTROL DENIED were pioneering  projects in death metal. 

 

DEATH unleashed "THE SOUND OF PERSEVERANCE", 8/31/1998 via NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS.

 Chuck sculpted these about 30 years ago. They were in bad shape so his Dad repaired and painted them. What a beautiful feeling it must be to touch and work on the art that your son created. Two generations of clay.
