ITP V.016 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. PHIFE DAWG ( MALIK TAYLOR- A TRIBE CALLED QUEST)

PHIFE DAWG  (MALIK TAYLOR) from legendary and groundbreaking rap trio A TRIBE CALLED QUEST passed away 3/22/2016 after a long battle with diabetes.
A TRIBE CALLED QUEST were groundbreaking hip hop trailblazers melding infectious rhymes with jazz, Caribbean textures and social/political awareness .







ITP V.016 EDITORS NOTE: You may have heard of A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, from "Scenario", to "We Go The Jazz".   A TRIBE CALLED QUESTS "Peoples Instinctive Travels and the Paths Of Rhythm" (1990) and "The Low End Theory" (1991) are hip hop classics, club classics and simply amazing.
PHIFE'S Caribbean accent is all real, he's of Trinidad descent, an amazing performance on "We Got The Jazz"



 A TRIBE CALLED QUEST re-united for ROCK THE BELLS in 2004 as members have ventured into influential solo projects.


PHIFE received two kidney transplants and unleashed "VENTILATION", 9/26/2000 via GROOVE ATTACK RECORDS.
PHIFE was working on a new release "Songs in the Key of Phife" at the time of his death.

We are incredibly saddened to hear about about the passing of A Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dawg due to complications from diabetes. He was only 45 years old.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans. 
"Malik was our loving husband, father, brother and friend," his family said in a statement. "We love him dearly. How he impacted all our lives will never be forgotten. His love for music and sports was only surpassed by his love of God and family."
