Hailing from Groningen, the band are dedicated to melodic black metal and are regarded by scene insiders as the Netherlands ' best underground band. Contrary to the usual black metal clichés, WALDGEFLÜSTER's lyrics don't deal with evil, but can rather be seen as an ode to nature and Germanic mythology. The lyrics are accompanied by both black metal brutality and melodic, partly acoustic, folk-inspired passages, so WALDGEFLÜSTER manage to appeal to more than just black metal fans. In doing so, the band, who seldom play live, in no way sound corny – majestic and homogeneous are more accurate adjectives.
