Still cannot believe hearing this news last night after work. Condolences to Riley's family and friends, and band mates.
This band has been on repeat for me since I first saw them live, and have been obsessed ever since. From supporting by seeing them as much as I could, meaning driving to Dallas from Minneapolis at one point, to owning as much merch as I possibly could. Definitely had and still have a big impact on my every day life. What a frontman and a half this guy was.

FROM HIGH ON FIRE:

Incredibly sad to hear that Riley Gale has passed away. High On Fire's last tour before covid was a North American run with Power Trip, along with Devil Master and Creeping Death. Such good vibes all around on that tour, it was an awesome congregation of bands and individuals. I really enjoyed the times I got to spend talking with Riley. I'll remember him as a kind, authentic person, funny as hell, a joy to be around in general. Not to mention an incredibly commanding and charismatic vocalist/frontman. I was looking forward to hanging out with him again on the road one day, and continuing to get to know him. Such a loss. Sending love to his family and bandmates.

FROM EXODUS:

Rest In Power

FROM AFRICAN METAL:

REST IN PEACE RILEY GALE
Riley was the frontman for politically astute American thrash band POWER TRIP. Power Trip are among the rare breed of newer thrash metal bands to generate some buzz in the mainstream.

FROM PHIL DEMMEL (VIOLENCE):
Shocking. Sad. Riley and all the band invited Vio-Lence out to their hometown festival in January and made sure we had everything we needed. I was so impressed with how this younger band carried themselves as hosts then utterly destroyed a packed house. All of us are saddened by this loss, RIP RG.

Rest In Peace, Riley Gale. I don’t know what happened to him yet, but I do know that I was really looking forward to touring with him & @powertriptx again- in fact, we were already supposed to have toured in Europe & then this pandemic happened & screwed that up. When I sent him these photos I took last year while doing some Euro festivals together, we were talking about how stoked we were to hit the road together & hang again. Besides being a great frontman, Riley was smart, articulate, well read, politically astute, compassionate, & fearless in expressing his views. These are all things I value highly in an artist & a human being- we got along really well. He loved hardcore and metal, & it is shame for our scene that someone who burned so brightly is gone way too soon- he was a mere 34 years old. Just a great dude with some insanely hilarious stories, & I’ll really miss shooting the bull about life & comic books with him. Just two days ago Riley crossed my mind & I thought “I better shoot him a message & check in & see how he’s holding up down there in Texas”- & then I got distracted & forgot. I really wish I had now. My condolences & so much love to Riley’s family & all the Power Trip homies. #riprileygale #powertrip #powertriptx

Rest In Peace to a true friend, Riley Gale. We woke up to terrible news this morning and the whole day went in reminiscing the things we experienced together.
We booked a small club show for Power Trip in Helsinki at the end of their first European tour in late 2013. They had just dropped Manifest Decimation LP and we were playing the first three tracks of Helsinki Savagery LP live for the first time. 90 tickets were sold and the crowd consisted of mostly familiar faces.
A few years and many shared stages and experiences later in 2019 they played at a festival in the same city in front of tens of thousands.
Riley and Power Trip put in work and much more to make it happen. And what makes it even more admirable they never turned their backs to where they came from in that process. They kept supporting the DIY, friends and bands of the smaller scale. It is humbling to think of the amount of people and lives positively affected by Riley’s art and personality.
Riley was truly a genuine person and his impact will be felt forever. It was a privilege crossing paths with him.

This was a tough one to read about. RIP to the far too young and talented Riley Gale. Crank it.

FROM WARBRINGER:

It warms my heart knowing I was there for my brothers in need and was able to share the most monumental Power Trip shows Europe will ever experience with Riley. His voice and music are forever.
I love you, brother. Rest in Power.
