WORMROT are a three piece  grind core band  from SINGAPORE. With various full lenghts and splits to the bands name, WORMROT are leaders in the rising Asian grindcore and metal scene.

Here ITP V.022 have WORMROT'S new release "HISS" on tap to review.

WORMROT'S "HISS" kicks off  with .'THE DARKEST BURDEN" as the track enters heavy, with blast beats featuring screamed and growled vocals. The guitar riffs are simple, but the vocals are intense.

WORMROT'S  'THE DARKEST BURDEN" segues into  "BROKEN MAZE", features both clean and screamed vocals. I can see pits breaking out to this track. "BROKEN MAZE" features some riff variety.

WORMROT'S "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" enters with punk drum rhythms, thrash riffs,  and segues into blast beats with growlened and screamed vocals, a quick guitar solos.

WORMROT'S   "WHEN TALKING FAILS, IT'S TIME FOR VIOLENCE" has an old school punk/hardcore vibe as this is some good old school grindcore.

WORMROT'S  "YOUR DYSTOPIAN HELL" kicks off with post metal tones before blast beats take over and segue back in forth from post grindcore to post rock.

WORMROT'S "UNRECOGNIZABLE" may very well be the shortest (or one of the shortest) tracks on  "HISS".  "UNRECOGNIZABLE",  ,in all the tracks punk/grindcore glory, it clocks in at only ten seconds.

WORMROT'S "HATRED TRANSCENDING" is a RAGER of a track featuring blazing speed, blast beats, death and screamed vocals and dramatic guitar interplay.

WORMROT'S "DOOMSAYER" features some great screamed and death vocal interplay in a very short  37  track.

WORMROT'S features various drum rhythms and Latin percussion over a noisy soundtrack of screaming chaos.

WORMROT'S  "SEIZURES", a slightly longer track by grindcore standards delivers some tight death grind with vocal variety, quality drumming and driving riffs.

WORMROT'S "VOICELESS CHOIR" is a rager as the track features death and screamed vocals with spoken word. Melodic guitar adorns "VOICELESS CHOIR" until some punky thrash riffs enter the equation.. "VOICELESS CHOIR" features a wide vriety of riffs for a two and half minute rager.

WORMROT'S "GRIEVE" features a variety of instrumentation  including a violin, as the track is a instrumental noise rager complete with blast beats and totally dramatic.

WORMROT'S "SEA OF DISEASE" features a tight rhythm section of mosly instrumental post grind rock. Half way through "SEA OF DISEASE", the full band kicks in full of fury, speed, blast beats, spoken word and power.

WORMROT'S ."NOXIOUS CLOUD" enters with an old school grindcore feel with blast beats and crossover riffing.

.WORMROT'S  "SHATTERED FAITH", at only 19 seonds,  very short track,  features an excellent variety of drumming including blast beats and screamed vocals in trypical grind core fashion.

WORMROT'S  "DESOLATE LANDSCAPES" is some awesome grindcore with post rock riffing as the song rages with blast beats, hardcore drumming and twangy lead guitar.

WORMROT'S  "SPIRAL EYES" is a short, 41 second track that accomplishes more in that short duration that some bands do in 5 minutes.  "SPIRAL EYES" employs death and screamed vocals to a soundtrack of blast beat oblivion.

WORMROT'S  "WEEPING WILLOW", for starters,  reminds me of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN before the track morphs into experimental death/grind accompanied by a squeaky violin.

WORMROT'S  "ALL WILL WITHER" is a spoken word track accompanied by quality drumming.

WORMROT'S "HISS" closes with "GLASS SHARDS", an excellent death/grind track chock full of riffs, violin and time changes.

WORMROT'S "HISS" is a total rager of a release featuring a wide variety in riffs, great drumming and a variety of different styles and instrumentation.

.WORMROT'S "HISS" features a variety of different musical approaches as every track has a character of it's own.

In fact, WORMROT accomplish (in typical short and brutal grindcore  fashion) in a few seconds what most metal bands can't in five minutes are longer.

WORMROT'S "HISS" is a maelstrom of swirling riffs, blast beats, assorted rhythms and a great vocal variety of screams, death and clean vox and even spoken word.

WORMROT guitarist RAYSID, drummer VIJESH and vocalist ARIF carry the music into forward thinking sonic territory with excellent musicianship and chemistry.

However, WORMROT vocalist ARIF recently left the trio as auditions for a new vocalist in expected.

Treat your self to some awesome grindcore and go out and buy WORMROT'S "HISS". .
