N enSTVED METALFEST reveals the first bunch of bands after the summer's bang of a party! The dust had hardly settled from this summer's last big Open Air metal festival in Zealand, before the team behind Næstved metalfest was booking new names for next year's event. Already during this year's festival, it became clear that the Swedish death metal boys @TAG, who unfortunately had to cancel their participation in the 2022 edition, were booked for 2023 and together with them, they also published Danish Grave , who have been housed with their metalcore both domestically and outdoors big world for a few years now. With an unusually high bar within the genre and a back catalogue that can make any up-and-coming metal musician guilty of gross envy, Illdisposed enjoy huge respect across the country for their always uncompromising delivery of the death metal they almost were helping to create the genre for. "Posen", which is the band's nickname among Danish metal fans, breaks through and delivers a product that everyone wants to buy again. There is a (metal) party where ILLDISPOSED will appear and, among other things, the booking group behind the festival had no doubt that the band would go back and lay down Næstved, as they did in 2021.
Another band with an unusually high ceiling is the album-current Danish deathcore talents in CABAL , and we absolutely think that it is worth a review, now that the band outdoes themselves and makes such a great album as they have once done. It pays for quality when you sign up for Nuclear Blast and we can promise that CABAL is 200 percent optimized to tear all the people in the square in a marrow of brutal, metallic destruction.
In addition to CABAL, they have also booked Danish Lotan (there, like Grave, but due to covid-19, had to cancel the show at the last minute in 2022). Thus LOTAN was almost self-written for the festival in 2023. Expect vicious and sweaty viking/blackmetal from that edge, with a very charismatic front singer in front, when the evil serpentine beast takes the stage.
TROLD - something as rare as a band that has landed even before their debut album, has managed to play a lot of shows across the country and to have created a firm and faithful following. TROLD is sweeping all resistance off the table, where they appear and as the band is just now putting the finishing touches on the recordings in the studio, their debut album has arrived when they guest Næstved Metalfest in the late summer. It will be a folk party of dimensions, so find your inner wizard!
Structural from Israel is a technical/progressive death metal band, with a female lead guitarist. The band are releasing their second album in the spring and the technical level is unusually and insanely high. It's Arch Enemy, mixed with Periphery, Nevermore and Lamb Of God. Næstved Metalfest is very excited to welcome these 5 Israelis, as the first band from the Middle East to the festival.
The next band in the line of strong entertainment is Vansind , which takes the musical segment in a completely different direction, namely into the folk genre, where mead, soil and mighty Valhal are sung. The Sjællandske band is relatively new, but in a few years have been able to create a name that most people know, and therefore, of course, they should be allowed to call for a gathering with the drinking horns at Grønnegade Kaserne in August.
The last band in this reveal round is Danish Nothing Noble , who are a hard hitting, modern metalcore band. They take advantage of bouncy, sync-operated grooves, which are accompanied by heavy atmospheres and insistent melodies. Since the release of the debut album "Modern Display" 2021), Nothing Noble has played the country thinly with recognized Danish artists such as Cabal, Lifesick and Siamese.
Spokesman for the festival, Jimmy Nielsen, shares a bit of the expectations for the future:
"I'm really looking forward to celebrating 5 years with Næstved Metalfest. What started as a wet little boy's dream, has now manifested itself as a solid player on the Danish metal festival market and I think we're about to have found the right setting and set up for this festival. The atmosphere, the scenes, the band diversity and the physical setting have been absolutely perfect this year and it allowed us to hit it right in the ass, compared to the audience's expectations of a bag of mixed bags. That's what festivals can do - to mix more well-known bands, with new and up-coming bands that expand the metallic music horizon and leave the guests with a little more "full bellies" than they had expected from the start when they sat on the table.
I wonder if we don't CARE to stick to the concept of offering a few dishes more than the audience expects when we open the doors to the fifth edition of Næstved Metalfest in 2023. Me and the team are really looking forward to summer and to seeing all the lovely people again, who had a party in the heart of Næstved this summer. "
