We
first became fans of L.A.'s Dark Angel back in 1985. The record in the
photo here is our copy that we got back when it first came out. When
"Darkness Descends" was released in 1986, we were blown away! They were
one of our influences when starting our band, Sadistic Intent. Having
the chance to open up for Dark Angel in 1989 was a great thing for us,
it was our first time sharing the stage with an internationally
well-known band like them. As time went on, Gene Hoglan ended
up in the band Death and Dark Angel was put to rest. Shortly after our
"Resurrection" CD was released in 1994, we got a letter from a person
telling us that they enjoyed our music. To our surprise, that letter
came from Jim Durkin! To make sure, I wrote back and asked him, are you
ex-Dark Angel? He wrote back, yes, it was him and soon after that he
visited Dark Realm Records. That was something we consider an honor...
Earlier today we got the unfortunate news that he passed away. He is a
Metal legend and we're glad to have had a friendship with him. Our
condolences to his wife Annie and the family...
