ITP V.023 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. CHARLIE DOMINICI (ORIGINAL VOCALIST-DREAM THEATER)

CHARLIE DOMINICI , original vocalist of  Long Island, New York, U.S.A. based progressive metal warriors DREAM THEATER has died at 72. No cause of death has been given.

 We are devastated to hear the news of the passing of former Dream Theater singer, Charlie Dominici. Charlie was the voice of DT on our debut album, 'When Dream And Day Unite’, recorded back in 1988. Beyond being a great singer, he was an incredibly talented songwriter, a well-rounded musician on both guitar and keyboards, and a long-time friend even after his departure from the band. Charlie’s unexpected passing is a tremendous loss to everyone in the Dream Theater family, and we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the Dominici family during this immensely difficult time.

Charlie Dominici was the first musician that worked with us in Universal Mind Project

This can tell you much about his kindness.

He actually is the one who wrote the lyrics for The Jaguar Priest song, later on I co-wrote some parts together with him and then the tittle came. He was kind, creative, a very nice sense of humor, also a big fan of the Mayan culture, we talked often during the creative process of the song and my appreciation for him grew fast.

And i just read that he passed away today.

Is still unbelievable that he considered me to work with him, I grew up listening to a lot Dream Theater both with him and James, and the idea of creating music with Charlie for me was surreal to say the least.

Thank you for all and have a good journey my friend, you will be missed.
