 FROM OZZY OSBOURNE'S FAMILY:

It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis

FROM TONY IOMMI (BLACK SABBATH):

I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park.
It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother.
My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz. Tony
FROM GEEZER BUTLER (BLACK SABBATH):
Goodbye dear friend- thanks for all those years- we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston- who’d have thought, eh?
So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston.
Love you.

FROM BILL WARD:

Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls, no, you’re forever in my heart. Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members. RIP Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever. Bill Ward

ITP V.025 EDITORS NOTE:
oohhh, noooo. The death of a legend has been confirmed. I was just in a therapy appointment and the receptionist told the other receptionist OZZY died. I didn't believe it. Then on my way back from therapy the local classic rock station WPDH was playing a double shot of OZZY OSBOURNE and I started to worry. BLABBERMOUTH.NET has CRASHED and I'm about to update my metal blog. OZZY seemed FINE during his "Back to the Beginning" final performance with BLACK SABBATH. R.I.P. OZZY.

FROM PANTHEIST:

Sometimes we tend to overcomplicate things in our little obscure genre. We talk about sub sub genres and get sucked into flame wars about what is the ‘true’ and ‘false’ approach to music. But deep down, things are straightforward. When it comes down to it, we can all agree on a few things.
For many of us, the journey started in Birmingham decades ago when a bunch of working class lads popularised the heavy and slowed down approach to rock music. Millions of us have since worshipped at the altar of the heavy riff. We have literally done so ourselves a few months ago when we visited the famous Black Sabbath Bridge before our gig at Doom Over Birmingham, like so many other bands have done before and since.
But when we think of heavy music and heavy riffs, most of us don’t think of that sound accompanied by the vocal of a Pavarotti. Hell, most of us don’t even think of the legend that was Ronny James Dio at first. We immediately think of the nasal vocal of The Prince of Darkness himself, a sound that so many vocalists have tried to emulate. It reminds us that playing the music we love is not first and foremost about technique and hitting the notes perfectly. It’s about passion, intensity, power and charisma.
RIP Ozzy Osbourne, you legend

FROM CROWBAR:
Ozzy!!! Words cannot express the sadness to the metal community young and old!!! We all love Sabbath and we all love Ozzy!! Prayers and love go out to his family and all of his fans worldwide!! Prayers to you @zakkwyldebls , we know this is a hard day for you. #ozzy #blacksabbath #legend #prayers

FROM GOAT TAVERN (FACEBOOK):
Can't believe it, just can't.... ๐Ÿ˜ข
See you on the other side Ozzy!

FROM LAMB OF GOD:

The loss we feel today is immeasurable. Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath created heavy metal…and with it, they created a world in which generations of people could feel accepted and welcome…safe and free to be their authentic selves knowing that they won’t ever be alone. Ozzy changed the world…and for millions of people all over the world, it’s nearly impossible to imagine where we might be if he hadn’t.
So even as we mourn his passing, we celebrate his life. What a life it was! And how generously Ozzy and his family shared it with us!
On a more personal note, the entire Osbourne family was instrumental in helping support and guide the early stages of Lamb of God’s career…they always believed in us. We are forever grateful….for the support and love they’ve shown us…and most of all for the music they’ve given to all of us.
We love you Ozzy. ❤️

FROM PANTERA:
RIP @ozzyosbourne Thank you for all that you did for metal & Pantera. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Amy & Louis, we are so very sorry for your loss

FROM ALEX SKOLNICK (TESTAMENT):

I’ve been the king,
I’ve been the clown
Now broken wings can’t hold me down
I’m free again
The jester with the broken crown
It won’t be me this time around
To love in vain
I say goodbye to romance, yeah
Goodbye to friends, I tell you
Goodbye to all the past
I guess that we’ll meet, we’ll meet in the end ๐ŸŽถ
Like everyone else just hearing this breaking news, I’m in a state of sadness and shock.
For now, a few immediate thoughts:
* Without these two, Ozzy & Randy, life would look very different. The difficult years of pre-adolescence to young adulthood would have been less manageable without the spark, color and respite from teen angst provided by Ozzy - pre and post Randy but with Randy in particular, for whom I would not be the player/person I became (and I know that’s true for too many musicians to name). Images of Ozzy and Randy’s reunion in an afterlife is a small consolation
* Although.unable to get to Birmingham for B2TB farewell concert. I was grateful for the footage and happy for so many who got to share Ozzy & Sabbath’s official last concert, barely a couple weeks back. It can’t be denied: What a way to go out!!
*Although it was very brief, I got to spend a week or so in Ozzy’s orbit, during a transitional period. According to legend he’d been through many guitarists, post Zakk. Although I didn’t take part in the upcoming tour (and the guitarist who did was let go before there’d be another album) I was one of the only ones to play a live concert with him (Geez on bass, still pinching myself). It was pre The Osbournes and regrettably, pre Smart Phone, so no pics or vids like today (sigh)…What an honor and so grateful for the memory
Rest in peace, Oz. You were maligned, vilified and feared by some but the world was a better place with you in it. Thanks for everything. Say hi to Randy for us ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ”ฅ

 FROM MOTORHEAD:

We lost our dear, dear friend today. Ozzy was a pioneer, a guiding force for all in hard rock and heavy metal, and a great guy too. Lemmy and Ozzy were brothers in arms who enjoyed many adventures together over the decades, and his loss is seismic. Rest peacefully Ozzy, we will always love and celebrate you…

 FROM EXODUS:

RIP @ozzyosbourne you meant more to all of us than you can imagine. As Tom Hunting said, you were the John Lennon of our music and of our people. Forever grateful for all you gave u

FROM SEASON OF MIST:

It hits hard. Ozzy’s been part of our lives for so long it’s difficult to imagine the world without him in it.
That voice, that attitude, that sense of chaos you couldn’t fake if you tried...he shaped the sound of heavy music in ways we’re still feeling today.
We’re damn proud that we have under our banner the bands like Green Carnation, Stoned Jesus, Kylesa, and Rotting Christ who have paid their tributes to Black Sabbath with killer covers of their own.
That’s the mark of a legacy: riffs that refuse to die, voices echoing his reckless heart.
Ozzy taught us to embrace the chaos, laugh at the madness, and always stay true to the riff that lives inside. He’s gone home, but his roar’s still rattling our stages and our hearts.
Sleep well, Ozzy. The metal flame burns on. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฆ‡

 FROM RHAPSODY OF FIRE:

A Tribute to the King of Heavy Metal
“On April 17th, 1989 in Milano, I was 19 years old, standing in the crowd and witnessing Ozzy Osbourne live for the first time. What struck me most was how he owned the stage and the audience. He didn’t care what people thought — he gave everything for his fans. He was such a character, completely himself, and you could feel that. It was unforgettable.” — Alex Staropoli
“Ozzy had an important influence on the role of the guitar in heavy metal… thank you, Prince of Darkness.” — Roby De Micheli
“When I was young at school, I was shocked by that voice. It’s love or hate… and for me, it was definitely the former. Thank you, Ozzy.” — Giacomo Voli
“I cannot rationalize the loss right now. The only thing I know is that everything that happened in the last months makes sense now. Simply, the best farewell the world has ever seen. Thank you for leading the way once again.” — Alessandro Sala
“Farewell to the immortal Prince of Darkness. Your wild spirit, unforgettable voice, and fearless soul changed rock forever. You lived loudly, unapologetically — and we’ll never forget you.” — Paolo Marchesich
Ozzy wasn’t just a legend — he was heavy metal. A wild spirit. A fearless soul. And an inspiration to millions.
Rest in power, Ozzy.
From all of us in Rhapsody Of Fire: thank you.

FROM AC/DC:
So sad! A great loss to all that loved him.

FROM ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME:
In Memoriam: Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Black Sabbath in 2006 and again as a solo artist in 2024, Ozzy Osbourne was rock’s beloved Prince of Darkness. His instantly recognizable voice was urgent, raw, and sincere, and his notorious stage presence was hypnotic, with an inimitable ability to hype up every crowd. Ozzy’s vocals helped create the foundation of heavy metal on captivating Sabbath classics like “Black Sabbath,” “Paranoid,” and “Children of the Grave.” In his solo career, Ozzy’s distinctive delivery powered such hits as “Crazy Train,” “Bark at the Moon,” and “Mr. Crowley.” In 1996, he co-founded Ozzfest to promote newer metal and hard rock acts, winning over a younger generation and cementing his musical legacy as rock god.

FROM CEMETERY FILTH:

Everybody’s posting about Ozzy’s passing, and that is a perfect display of the immense love for this man and his loony legacy.
From a talented frontman and singer who knew how to stay in the pocket and surround himself with the most amazing musicians, to being a total clown, rascal, cultural icon, and loving father and husband… Ozzy touched us all.
Cemetery Filth has always been comprised of musicians who deeply loved Ozzy, and I can’t begin to tell you how many late nights were spent on tour or traveling from practice, blasting Ozzy’s music and singing our asses off with him.
Truly the end of an era, but we all keep the music alive and burning for him.
Rest in power and peace, Ozzy Osbourne. Thank you for all the laughs, lyrical encouragement, and for making us Believers. I hope you’re Flying High Again.

FROM MIKE PORTNOY (DREAM THEATER): :

Like every single one of us on the planet right now, I’m in complete shock over the news of Ozzy Osbourne’s passing…๐Ÿ˜ข We all knew this day would eventually come, but it still seemed like he was still going defy everything and live forever…
There’s a small comfort in knowing he was able to play his final concert only a few short weeks ago and feel all of the love and gratitude that this whole world has for him. How poetic that he was able to give and have his final farewell surrounded by all his loved ones, family and friends…thank God for that…and thank God for Ozzy. You impacted and enriched all of our lives…thank you

FROM DAVE MUSTAINE (MEGADETH):

Dear Ozzy,
I’m gonna miss you. Not nearly as much as your incredible soulmate, Mrs. Osbourne. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us all.
See you on the other side!
Dave Mustaine

FROM AVATAR:
You will have a hard time finding an interview with me where I don’t bring up Black Sabbath. What else can I say? We are all stunned and saddened by today’s news. Ozzy Osbourne got me through it all, and inspired me to dare to dream. He made the impossible possible. I once heard someone say that the true definition of genius in art is the one who inspires others to create something themselves. By that definition I dare you to find a greater genius than Ozzy.
Our condolences to his family and loved ones. A husband, a father, a grandfather, and THE GODFATHER OF HEAVY METAL! Thank you for the music. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the inspiration.
- Johannes & AVATAR

FROM STANDING BEAR NETWORK:

Ozzy Osbourne has crossed over now — and I imagine the sky is louder because of it.
He wasn’t just a rock star. He was a thunder being in leather and chains, a wild spirit who cracked open the silence for those who needed to scream, to cry, to feel something real. And like our own stories of powerful beings who walk between worlds — Tricksters, shape-shifters, lightning carriers — Ozzy lived in that liminal space. Part chaos, part healing. A force that couldn’t be tamed.
To many, he was the Prince of Darkness. But I saw him as something else: a keeper of sound medicine. A voice that carried the storm. In our ways, we know that drums are not just instruments — they are hearts. And Ozzy? His voice was a war drum for the forgotten. A howl for the wounded. A chant for the rebels.
And like the old ones who sing their last song before they go, he gave us his final notes just weeks ago — sitting on a throne, surrounded by 42,000 witnesses, offering his whole heart to the sky. That wasn’t just a concert. That was a send-off. A rite. A return.
I believe when he crossed, the ancestors heard that sound. Maybe the stars shimmered a little brighter. Maybe the wind carried his name like a chant over the hills of Aston, over the deserts and forests and city streets where his music once blasted from open windows.
We have a word in Cree — kรฎsikรขw pรฎsim — the day sun, the light that returns after night. That’s what Ozzy was to many: a reminder that even in the dark, you can rise. Even in the chaos, you can love. Even through the pain, you can sing.
So I lift up tobacco for him today — for the gift he was, for the fire he carried, for the path he blazed.
Travel well, Osbourne. May your spirit find rest, and may the next world be ready for the storm you bring.
The stage is yours again, Brother.
Ozzy forever.

FROM METALLICA:

OZZY RIP
It’s impossible to put into words what Ozzy Osbourne has meant to Metallica.  Hero, icon, pioneer, inspiration, mentor, and most of all, friend are a few that come to mind.  Ozzy and Sharon believed in us and transformed our lives and careers.  He taught us how to play in the big leagues while at the same time being warm, welcoming, engaging, and all around brilliant.
We are heartbroken and devastated by this loss and send our love and condolences to Sharon and their family, bandmates, and his very large circle of friends. He left an incredible legacy and will be sorely missed.

FROM FAITH NO MORE:

It’s hard to put into words the impact this Man has had on my life, career, and family. Grateful from the bottom of my heart for every single moment along the way. Proud to have played even a small part in the monumental story. Rest In Peace to The Big Boss, we love you so very much. Thank you for what you gave us, which is everything you had.
My love and condolences to All of The Family.
mike bordin, Ozzy Band 1995-2010

FROM AMARANTHE:

It is obvious that our entire genre started with this man, and the gentlemen beside him. We individually have fond memories of Ozzy’s music from our childhood and forward, but the first time Amaranthe collectively saw Black Sabbath was after performing at Graspop together in 2016, and we were blown away - not because of legacy, nostalgia or anything of that kind: it was just THAT good.
Until today, Ozzy was a fantastic singer and legendary musician. Now, he passes into history, to be remembered forever.

FROM MIKKEY DEE (MOTORHEAD/SCORPIONS):

Ozzy, rest in peace!
Definitely one of the greatest!
Now you can write some music together with Lem again.
You will be dearly missed! / Mikkey

FROM CULT OF LUNA:
Last week, Fredrik and I (Johannes) were out, had a few beers, and talked about our love for @ozzyosbourne ’s solo records, and how we owe @blacksabbath everything… literally everything. Thank you Ozzy.

FROM ABORTED:
Rest easy, Prince of Darkness. An Icon has left us, one of the originators of all the music we hold dear. You will be missed by many, and live on forever in all our hearts.

FROM SYSTEM OF A DOWN:

“If you can see my face and my eyes in this pic you can see that I felt like I was in a dream. That’s because as a kid Ozzy was such a big deal for me he actually appeared in my dreams. I was only 22 or 23 yrs old when this pic was taken, so I was still a kid. But I was living my dream standing next to the guy I idolized my whole life. RIP Ozzy. You meant everything to me.” - Daron Malakian
“I’m heartbroken and speechless. Condolences to the Osbourne family. Rest in Peace my friend.๐Ÿ˜ข” - Shavo Odadjian
“Ozzy was our musical Godfather inducting us into the world of Ozzfest as a young band. He was always funny with a disdain for hypocrisy, a quality I will forever admire and cherish.” - Serj Tankian
“He made fun of me for wiping sitting down, my fondest memory of this kind man who was an icon.“
- John Dolmayan

FROM SICK DRUMMER:

I fell in love with Ozzy the first time I heard Blizzard of Ozz in 1980. I was 8 years old and got the cassette from Cavages in the mall. Then in 1981 Diary of a Madman, followed by Bark at the Moon in 1983. I then went backward and devoured his catalog with Black Sabbath.
Thank you for all the music and for unknowingly help shape the musician I would become. Oh yea, and for giving us all the gift of heavy metal...
We lost a legend only weeks after his farewell performance. Rest easy Ozzy... you earned it.
~Ian - SDM

FROM BODY COUNT:
Thank you Ozzy Osbourne for everything you've created, and the mass influence on us all. Our condolences to the Osbourne family and friends.
FROM DARK FUNERAL:

Thank you for everything!!!

FROM UNMERCIFUL:

RIP to John Michael Osbourne, or Ozzy as he’s more commonly known, the Godfather of heavy metal, the Prince of Darkness. However you refer to him, this man was monumentally influential in every facet of of the music all of us love so much.
RIP to an absolute legend and icon. #ozzyosbourne #RIP #heavymetal

FROM RANDY BLYTHE (LAMB OF GOD):

Like most of you reading this, I am immensely sad right now.
This picture was taken 10 days ago, at @comicconmidlands- I was with my pals @scottianthrax & @thefrankbello. Our friend @malfuncsean took us back into Ozzy’s green room— we hung out for a good half hour & had some laughs with the Prince of Darkness.
Know this: Ozzy was in a GREAT mood, & still buzzing over the “Back to the Beginning” concert. I thanked him for having @lambofgod on the show, & told him “We just went by 14 Lodge Road two days ago” (his childhood home in Birmingham.)
Ozzy looked up & gave me an huge grin & said “Boy, I’ll bet that fucking guy who lives there now is sick of hearing about me!” & started laughing really hard. It was great to see!
I do not claim to have been close to him, but I’ve had several interactions with Ozzy over the years. Yes, Ozzy was a TRUE ROCK N’ ROLL MADMAN- they don’t build ‘em like him anymore. But I also knew him as a kind & gentle man who, alongside his family, did so much for my band, & more personally, spoke out publicly on my behalf when I was facing serious legal issues.
When you are in a foreign prison & inmates you don’t know come up to you suddenly acting impressed & saying “Ozzy Osbourne says good things for you!” in broken English… trust me, it makes a difference.
Thank you for that, mate. ๐Ÿ–ค
So yes, I’m very sad right now— but my heart is also full. Ozzy got to say goodbye, & he got to do it on HIS terms, with HIS band. One last time the mighty Sabbath roared… & we all watched in awe.
While in the green room, I had Ozzy sign my shoes, the ones I am holding in this photo- there were only 121 pairs of these Adidas made, strictly as thank you gifts to performers at the “Back to the Beginning” show. I told Ozzy I was going to auction them off to further benefit the charities that the concert raised money for, & he was well pleased by this.
And so I shall.
This is how I would like to thank & honor him for all he did for music, my band, & myself. The shoes will be part of a larger auction that is being organized right now. Details soon.
Thank you Ozzy. We love you.
“Show the world that love is still alive, you must be brave…

FROM STEVE VAI:
I had the great privilege of working with Ozzy in my studio for three months back in the 90s. He was sharp, he knew what he liked and knew what he didn’t like, he worked hard and he was absolutely the funniest person I ever met. I can’t imagine what the metal landscape would have been like if not for him.
Sharon was the air that he breathed. My deep condolences to the family.
You so delivered, dear Prince of Darkness. You were always filled with such a bright light, and we are grateful.

FROM JOEY BELLADONNA (ANTHRAX): :

This news has been incredibly hard to process, and my heart is broken. To think that we were just together a few weeks ago in Birmingham, celebrating the music of Black Sabbath and Ozzy. He was not only an icon but a true legend, and his presence will be deeply missed by so many.
Ozzy was exceptional in every way, an unparalleled talent with a sense of humor, kindness, and charisma that will never be matched. His vocals were in a league of their own, and the music he shared with us will never be duplicated.
Ozzy lived life on his terms, leaving a legacy that will endure in every note and every memory. Rest in peace, my friend. You will never be forgotten.

FROM 3 INCHES OF BLOOD:
#RIPOzzy The Prince of Darkness has left us. Thank you Ozzy, for your role in the creation of heavy metal. The music and life we love so dearly

FROM WITHERFALL:
Thank you @ozzyosbourne for the decades of music and the countless songs, memories and madness.

FROM DURAN DURAN:

What can you say about Ozzy? Whatever it is, it's in a Brummie accent.
Hard to imagine a world without him, Ozzy brought so much joy, humour and raw power to the world, in a life of many chapters. Ozzy was a cat who had way more than nine lives.
Thanks for the ride Ozzy, love from the other Brummies.

FROM KENNY HICKEY (TYPE O NEGATIVE):

My wife and I cried when hearing the news of Ozzy passing today. We just lost the greatest anti-hero in rock n roll history-certainly one of the single greatest influences in my life musically, vocally, and as a sometimes questionable role model. With all the darkness in his musical approach he always managed to lay down a universal lyric that made it sound like he was talking straight to you as a friend “Nobody ever told me, I found out for myself. You gotta believe in foolish miracles.” I tried my best to be like him, still do, only when Ozzy fucked up it always somehow turned to platinum. When I fuck up it’s just a fuck up. I love you Ozzy-as so many of us millions of fans do and always will. And with that I say “Goodbye to romance, yeah
Goodbye to friends, I guess that we’ll meet, we’ll meet in the end.”

FROM GODSMACK:

I just said so much on July 7 about how much this man has meant to me and my entire organization, so I will try to keep this short…
I just said so much on July 7 about how much this man has meant to me and my entire organization, so I will try to keep this short…
Even though a lot will mourn this moment, I think it is incredible how this went down. So many of us in the music industry know how long it takes to organize such a massive show and I’m sure this one was at least a year in the making if not more. So for Ozzy to have held on through all of that planning, choose his hometown of Birmingham and then chose to stay off his meds and not numb out (so his voice wasn’t affected) just so he could give all his fans one last performance…. and then passing only 17 days later is nothing short of epic!
He went out on his terms, the way he wanted to. And in my eyes, completed a legacy that is the epitome of Rock N Roll!
We fucking love you Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon, Jack, Kelly and all the rest of your family. Thank you for lending us your legend!
No one was cooler than you!๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿป R.I.P. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿป

FROM TYPE O NEGATIVE:
Type O Negative wishes to express our heart felt sorrow upon hearing of Ozzy’s passing and send our deepest condolences to the Osbornes. It’s simply not possible to imagine a world growing up without the incredible influence that Sabbath was. We were privileged to enjoy this brilliant music which will live in history forever. Thank you for everything. - Josh, Kenny and Johnny.

FROM KREATOR:

A few minutes before we went on stage tonight, we heard the sad news.
We are here because of you, Ozzy❤️

 FROM ORPHANED LAND:

Farewell, prince of darkness.
Thank you for opening the door for us all.
We salute you.
RIP.

 FROM MACHINE HEAD:

We found out that Ozzy had passed away from Sky news 20 minutes before we walked on stage to the opening night of our European tour. In a state of sadness and shock we made the decision to forgo our usual opening setlist. Following our intro of Ozzy's "Diary of a Madman" (that we've opened every Machine Head show with for the last 30+ years) we started the show with two Black Sabbath songs. "War pigs" and "Children of the grave", everyone sang, everyone knew tonight meant something, there wasn't a dry eye in the houseThere's so much more to say about the power of the Ozzy's songs, but for now, we'll let his music do the talking - Robb

FROM SLIPKNOT:

FROM THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER:

FROM RUSH:

RIP Ozzy Osbourne:
Fearless.
One of a kind.
Played by no one’s rules.
“I remember listening to the first Sabbath album when it came out and thinking how ‘effin’ heavy’ Tony Iommi’s guitar sounded,” said Geddy Lee. “Ozzy and his bandmates were at the forefront of that genre, that brand of Metal, and Ozzy was an intensely loved, one of a kind performer.
We never got to play on the same bill with Black Sabbath, and in fact we only ever did one gig with Ozzy, at the Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in June of 1984 (poster attached).
Rush recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales at the same time in the late 70’s and I recall Ozzy poking his head in the control room to ask if he could “borrow” some Hashish from Neil! For years afterwards, Neil relished telling the story of how “Ozzy owes me some hash” ๐Ÿ˜‰
Total respect to a legend and a band whose music profoundly influenced thousands of musicians and left behind a legacy for us all to “rock out” to forever.
RIP Ozzy

FROM BARCLAYS CENTER (BROOKLYN NEW YORK):
Rest in Peace to The Prince of Darkness. Rock won’t be the same without you, Ozzy.

FROM TRIVIUM:

Today, we learned of the passing of Ozzy Osbourne the same way many of you did — the band group chat. “Is it true?” “Is he gone?” The news hit us hard, especially coming so soon after the Back to the Beginning event. Like so many conversations in the world of heavy metal, Ozzy’s passing sparked instant reflection. We found ourselves talking about our favorite records — what’s the best Ozzy album? What’s the best Black Sabbath record? The debates, the memories, the influence — they all came rushing back.
For so many of us, hearing the kick drum of “Iron Man” and Ozzy’s unmistakable, haunting voice was the moment it all began. It was the hook — the spark that made us want to pick up guitars, basses, drumsticks, microphones. It made us want to be a part of this music, this energy, this global family that is heavy metal.
Because it really is a family. Whether we’ve met or not, there’s this unspoken bond between all of us who play and love this music — like distant relatives connected by a common bloodline. That bloodline is Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
We were incredibly lucky to be asked to join the 2005 Ozzfest. That moment defined us — it made Trivium. It put us in front of thousands of people across America and launched our band in a way we could never have imagined. We are forever grateful to Ozzy for that opportunity. To be billed under the mighty Black Sabbath banner gave us legitimacy and taught us what it means to truly play heavy metal.
Rest in peace, Ozzy. Thank you for everything.

FROM THE ALAMO (TEXAS):
"We at the Alamo are saddened to hear of the passing of legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne. His relationship with the Alamo was marked initially by a deeply disrespectful incident in 1982. This act profoundly and rightfully upset many who hold this site sacred.

"However, redemption and reconciliation eventually became part of his history as well. In 1992, Ozzy personally apologized to then-Mayor Nelson Wolff and expressed genuine remorse for his actions. Decades later, in 2015, he revisited the Alamo grounds to learn and appreciate the site's profound history, openly demonstrating humility and understanding.

"At the Alamo, we honor history in all its complexities. Today, we acknowledge Ozzy Osbourne's journey from regret to reconciliation at the historic site, and we extend our condolences to his family, friends, and fans around the world. May he rest in peace."

FROM STEVE VAN ZANT:
"RIP Ozzy. One of a kind. We opened for him once. Him and the band as nice as can be. I'd only run into him every 5 years or so and he always made a point to say hello. Did his wife Sharon's TV show and she was wonderful also. Deepest condolences to Sharon, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. Irreplaceable legend." - SVZ
