The most dense, dark and disturbing Death Metal force from Finland, DESECRESY, rises once again from the depths to seal a new chapter in their alliance with Xtreem Music. Their 9th album, "The Secret of Death", will be unleashed on May 21st through Xtreem Music on CD, 12"LP, cassette and digital formats.
A new descent into oppressive and mortuary realms where the band reaffirms their monolithic, cavernous and utterly suffocating sound.
DESECRESY is the singular vision of Tommi Grönqvist, who has consistently handled all songwriting and instrumentation since the band’s inception. From the fifth album onwards, he also took over vocal duties, pushing the sound into even deeper, more guttural territory. The band’s style remains unmistakable: dark, putrid, mysterious and hypnotic Death Metal infused with Doom-laden atmospheres, evoking the spirit of acts such as BOLT THROWER, INCANTATION, RIPPIKOULU, MYTHIC, ABHORRENCE (Fin) and ROTTREVORE.
With a clear artistic direction and a wealth of material from the very beginning, DESECRESY swiftly entered the studio to record its debut full-length, “Arches of Entropy”, completed in the summer of 2010. The album was immediately sent to Xtreem Music, marking the start of a long-standing collaboration through which DESECRESY has firmly established itself within the lineage of Finnish Death Metal.
A steady stream of albums followed under the same label: “The Doom Skeptron” (2012), “Chasmic Transcendence” (2014), “Stoic Death” (2015), “The Mortal Horizon” (2017), “Towards Nebulae” (2019), “Unveil in the Abyss” (2022) and “Deserted Realms” (2023).
“The Secret of Death” stands as DESECRESY’s ninth full-length release and the fifth crafted entirely by Tommi alone. The album continues the band’s relentless descent into oppressive sonic realms, blending early 90s-inspired brutality with an atmosphere drawn from the darkest layers of the psyche.
DESECRESY represents a fully self-contained entity: music, production and artwork all originate from a single mind. The result is a monolithic and immersive sound rooted in Finnish Death Metal, enriched with Doom influences, deep subterranean vocals, churning riffs and haunting lead guitars, often shifting through unconventional structures and tempos.
