FROM SINISTER:

Dear friends,
first of all, I want to thank you all for your incredible support. There have been so many messages, and although I haven't been able to answer everyone personally, please know that I will read them whenever I can and deeply appreciate every single one of them.
Many of you have been asking what happened, so I wanted to share my story and how it all began.
Two months ago, on a quiet Easter Sunday, our family decided to take a trip instead of spending the day cooking as we usually do every year. I was already feeling weak that weekend, but I was still able to enjoy a nice day with my family.
The following day, severe stomach pain and vomiting wouldn't stop, so Alesa took me to the hospital. I was diagnosed with an ileus and told I needed emergency surgery and was transferred to a bigger hospital.
The surgery went well, but the surgeon discovered multiple growths that required further histological examination. After ten days, I was discharged and recovering reasonably well. I even managed to stop by and say hello to the Vomitory guys while they were on tour.
However, after April 24th, shortly after Toby's prom night, everything started going downhill. I became weaker and weaker, lost a tremendous amount of weight, and the pain continued to worsen. Eventually, I received the devastating news that the cancer had spread extensively, including to my brain.
The primary cancer was diagnosed as skin melanoma. Fortunately, testing showed that I was BRAF positive, which after hesitating I received target therapy. At first, my condition continued worsend. So many doctors said I would not make it and they were right.
On May 13th, I stopped breathing.
Before the paramedics arrived, Alesa and Toby resuscitated me back. I remember nothing from that period, but I was later told by my oncologist that my body shut down, but my mind kept fighting, as if I still had unfinished business.
So, here I am.
A few days after I "came back from the dead," I started talking again, sitting up, walking a little, and eating. Since then, I've been getting stronger every day. A few days ago, I received fantastic news: my tumor markers have dropped dramatically!!
This past weekend, we had our first band rehearsal in quite some time, and it gave me a huge motivation to keep fighting.
None of this would be possible without my incredible Alesa, my wonderful children, my family and friends, and the amazing palliative care team of doctors and nurses who still continue to treat me at home.
The battle is far from over, but I am still here, and I am still fighting.
And yes...you will see Sinister on stage again soon.
Thank you all for your love, support, and belief.🤘
💪
