SUMMER BREEZE OPEN AIR 2012: CONFIRMS CATTLE DECAPITATION , HATESPHERE, ESKIMO CALLBOY and INSOMNIUM
Promoters for the 2012 SUMMER BREEZE OPEN AIR 15th Anniversary, set to take place 8/16-18, 2012 Dinkelshuhl, Germany have confirmed San Diego, California Vegan Gore Grinders CATTLE DECAPITATION, HATESPHERE, ESKIMO CALLBOY and INSOMNIUM for the summer German metal fest.
FROM SUMMER BREEZE OPEN AIR 2012 PROMOTERS:
We can proudly present another SUMMER BREEZE premiere: CATTLE DECAPITATION, probably the most brutal animal rights activists in the universe, will come to destroy Dinkelsbühl for the very first time. The lyrics to their ultra-brutal grind tracks don't deal with the tired blood and gore lyrics that are so usual in the genre, but rather with the rights of our fellow earthlings. With their latest album 'The Harvest Floor' – the cover artwork depicts people being led to a slaughterhouse – the Californians scored with the most extreme crowd. Don't miss this rare climax in terms of brutality and extreme stage acting, for which frontman Travis Ryan is infamous, as you don't get to see something like this very often in this country. Their new album is announced for the spring 2012.
As long as a band like INSOMNIUM can make it into the German charts (position # 95) with their melancholic, typically Finnish melodies and their Swedish-influenced melodic death metal, there should really be no worry about the state of the music business. Maybe the success of 'One For Sorrow' can be explained with the fact that INSOMNIUM appeal to many different fan groups. Followers of straight death metal such as In Flames, At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity, as well as fans of the slower, darker and more depressive sounds of Ghost Brigade and Amorphis, and even the proggy Opeth crowd can all enjoy INSOMNIUM. This is like the best of the Swedish and Finnish scenes mixed in a unique, original way. Bang your head, get lost in the dreamlike soundscapes, kneel down in joy!
Enter Shikari put it on the international map, We Butter The Bread With Butter on the German one. Will ESKIMO CALLBOY become its first superstars? We are talking about a relatively new genre called electrocore, to which Castrop-Rauxel's ESKIMO CALLBOY are dedicated with heart and soul. And one thing is for sure: This band will definitely polarize the scene. Their mix of poppy dance tunes, technoid stomping beats and brutal deathcore/metalcore is something that needs getting used to. But once the catchy tunes have gripped you, you will soon find yourself singing along or going mad in the pit. Purists should avoid this style like the pest, but they won't be able to stop its inexorable advance. At SUMMER BREEZE 2012 ESKIMO CALLBOY will deliver a manifest to this effect, as they unite what for years seemed irreconciliable: brutal metal and electronic dance music.
A change of singer is always the worst that can happen to a band. A few years ago, no one would have given a dime for Denmark's HATESPHERE, after their charismatic frontman Jakob Bredahl left the band. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Peter Lyse Hansen, the only remaining original member, put together a new line-up and brought the band back to life with the potent 'To The Nines', their first album in the post-Bredahl era. This year 'The Great Bludgeoning' followed, confirming the band's return to the forefront of high energy thrash. Have fun at the band's second appearance (the first was in 2004) at SUMMER BREEZE.
