ITP V.013 SOCIAL NETWORKING: YOU TUBE SET TO UNLEASH PAID MUSIC SERVICE

Popular internet video service provider YOU TUBE is set to unleash a paid music service to compete with SPOTIFY and other streaming music services starting next month.
The NEW YORK TIMES stated subscriptions to YOU TUBE's music service will likely cost $10.00 per month, tailored to mobile devices, without commercial and advert interruptions as record companies will reap bigger royalties via YOU TUBE.

The deal between YOU TUBE as a music streaming provider will cover official artist videos and user generated content (wedding videos with music in the background)  via music licenses including full music releases.

YOU TUBES's music licensing streaming agreement includes UNIVERSAL, WARNER MUSIC GROUP, SONY and some indie labels.

YOU TUBE officials have yet to comment on the pending music streaming service.

FROM RICHARD GREENFIELD (MEDIA ANALYST BTIG RESEARCH):
“YouTube is the world’s largest music search and discovery engine, . “Clearly there are people who would pay above and beyond using YouTube for free. It’s just about making a great consumer experience.”
