ITP V.016 THE MUSIC BUSINESS: "Just finishing up 2015 royalty calculations for artists signed to the label. Total royalty earnings (the actual money paid to artist) from new albums released via Blood Music is nearly 100.000 EUR in total."

Helsinki, Finland based extreme metal label/distributor BLOOD MUSIC has revealed paid out royalties from the record label to their recording artists and a statement regarding the music industry.

FROM BLOOD MUSIC:
Just finishing up 2015 royalty calculations for artists signed to the label. Total royalty earnings (the actual money paid to artist) from new albums released via Blood Music is nearly 100.000 EUR in total.
That's right, the small handful of artists signed to this small label were paid around 100.000 EUR in total last year from record sales, merch sales, digital downloads, streaming, and licensing. And artists keep 100% of touring revenue on top and are allowed to print their own merch too.
This compares very favorably against many metal 'major label' bands I've spoken to who have never seen a dime of royalties in their lives.
The music industry is not broken. Major media companies are just losing their monopoly quickly, and artists no longer need them to get ahead.
Do we need to keep thinner budgets than before? Yes.
Do we need to keep smaller teams than before? Yes.
Can artists make a living with their music? With the right size fanbase, yes.
Is the music industry broken? No.

Huge thanks for your continued support, I can safely say there are a handful of artists on the label who became fully financially self-sufficient off their music in the short time of being signed here and that has become one of the most invigorating parts of doing this work.
