KTDF VIII LINE-UP:
We will be announcing one band a day until the the entire line-up has been announced. We will be announcing 35 bands in total.
Presale will start on THURSDAY 20th FEBRUARY at 12.00 CET along with the presentation of the line up poster. Mark the date and be quick cause there will only be 700 tickets for sale – and if things will go as they have the last two years, they will not be up for long…
Here are the bands that have been announced so far in alphabetical order:
-COFFIN TEXTS (us) - first European show ever!
-------------------------------------------
Death metal ghouls and fiends of the world - It's with disgusting pleasure we can announce the 8th edition of Kill-Town Death Fest! Due to our hiatus from 2014 – 2018, 2020 will be the year where we will be celebrating 10 years of the festival’s existence – therefore the 2020 edition will be called “10 YEARS OF DEATH”!
So without further ado, we are filthy excited to announce that “KILL-TOWN DEATH FEST VIII – 10 YEARS OF DEATH” will take place 3rd – 6th of September 2020!! 4 days of death, 35 bands, 3 stages, events, metal market, horror cinema, distros, food, drinks and death metal freaks from across the globe!
The “10 Years of Death” edition will once again be held at the Pumpehuset venue in the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. The rotten festivities will span for 4 foul days and follow the tradition of ending with “Gloomy Sunday” on the last day. A carefully selected programme will present 35 of the finest contemporary death metal bands from around the world. We have decided to trim the programme slightly after last year’s 40 bands nearly killed us and the people trying to watch all of them…
The artwork for this year’s festival have been created by the talented Rahma P. Murliawanti aka Gutslaughter (@gutslaughter) from Jarkarta, Indonesia! We feel her work represents the spirit and aesthetics of KTDF and will be a great continuation of the gross maggot ridden visual expression of the festival.
We will start the band announcements in a week from today - on January 16th. One band a day for 35 days. Presale will start on THURSDAY 20th FEBRUARY at 12.00 CET along with the presentation of the line up poster. Mark the date and be quick cause there will only be 700 tickets for sale – and if things will go as they have the last two years, they will not be up for long…
We are looking forward to share this year’s line-up with all of you over the course of the next month and half!

Announcement #4: Tonight we are announcing a band that played the second edition of KTDF, when they were still quite fresh. Now 9 years later, they have released 3 full length albums since, so we thought it was about time to bring back one of Swedens best contemporary death metal bands. A band with a great sound, amazing aesthetics and fresh home from supporting At The Gates, we are delighted to welcome back Swedens finest; VANHGELD!!!
Vanhelgd plays dirty, dark and atmospheric death metal with desperate vocals. Listening through their discography you will find a diverse collection of songs ranging from traditional European death metal, some d-beat, some folk music saturated doom and even some songs leaning towards black metal.
The band started in late 2007 and have refined their sound with every
release and made their own path along the way. Their fifth album "Deimos
Sanktuarium" was released in October 2018 and got the same great
reception as both "Temple of Phobos" (2016) and "Relics of Sulphur
Salvation" (2014).
As for now the show at Kill-town death fest will be the first, and one of very few, shows in 2020. Vanhelgd are planning to start writing a new album this year but we haven't played in Denmark since Kill-Town 2011 and we have waited since then to return.
The band says; “The festival and line-up is always great and it will be one of the highlights in 2020 for us for sure!”

Announcement #3: Tonight we have another special performance to announce for you guys. The band we are about to announce only played 5 European shows last year, so unless you were fortunate enough to catch them then, this will be your chance. Therefore we are very exited to present a KTDF European 2020 exclusive one-off performance with the Atlanta based 4 piece, FATHER BEFOULED! September 2020 will be the 10th anniversary of their second full length album "Morbid Destitution of Covenant" so Dark Descent Records will be reissuing the album in time for the fest.

Formed in 2006, Father Befouled play unholy and desolate death metal.
After some demo tracks online garnered interest, an EP, "Profano ad
Regnum" was released in 2008 and the band began playing regional shows
in the US. A full length, "Obscurus Nex Cultus" quickly followed and
after more shows and a couple of split releases, the band signed to
Relapse Records for the release of "Morbid Destitution of Covenant" in
2010.
The band laid low for a couple of years before playing the inaugural Martyrdoom Festival in New York in 2012, which coincided with the release of their third full length, "Revulsion of Seraphic Grace" on Dark Descent Records. 2015 saw the release of "Enthroning Desolation" - a compilation of demo, split, live, and rare tracks - and a short tour of the East Coast.
In 2017 the band headlined the Blood of the Wolf Festival in Lexington, Kentucky, as well as a performance at Maryland Deathfest to celebrate the release of their fourth album "Desolate Gods."
The band embarked on their first European tour in May of 2019, releasing an EP, "Holy Rotten Blood," and capping off with a performance at the Netherlands Deathfest. The rest of 2019 into 2020 the band will work on their next album and prepare for a few shows before appearing at Kill-Town.

Announcement #2: Here we go again! Are you ready for the 2nd announcement? Those of you who were present at the Vastum gig at last year’s KTDF experienced the sheer explosion of energy from singer Dan Butler. Tonight we have the pleasure of presenting his other slightly older project for a KTDF exclusive! It’s been 9 years since this Bay Area 5 piece played shows in Europe, so it’s with great pleasure we can announce ACEPHALIX for the KTDF VIII lineup!
Known for its punishing and relentless live performances, Acephalix (definition: headless, with no leader) is a Bay Area Death Metal institution that spawned some of the most well known underground Death Metal acts of the last decade.
The band began as the brainchild of vocalist Daniel Butler and
guitarist Kyle House (Defiance PDX, The Riffs, Poison Idea) in the rat -
rodent and human alike - infested depths of San Francisco’s Turk Street
Studios. Soon after, 2nd vocalist Sara Gillespie, drummer Isaac Starr,
bassist Miguel Maciel (Peligro Social) and guitarist Gabe Gavriloff
(Depressor) joined and the 6-headed crust mutant recorded its first two
demos with Jeff “Jef Leppard” Davis, in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
Acephalix played its early live shows alongside the likes of Stormcrow, Hellbastard, Eyehategod, Desolation, Crow, and others. The incarnation that included Dave Benson (Depressor) on drums and new transplant from Italy Luca Indrio (Pistons) on bass released their debut 7” (2009, Prank Records, Greg Wilkinson/Earhammer) and debut full-length, Aporia (2010, Prank, Jef Leppard) and furthered their aural/neural war campaign across the US (as the first band to tour with Denmark’s Undergang) and Europe.
After Gabe’s departure, the 4-piece version of Acephalix (Dan, Kyle, Luca, Dave) mowed forward into Death Metal infamy, releasing demos Interminable Night and Flesh Torn in Twilight (Deific Mourning, 2010, 2011, both recorded by Jef, later released as the compilation Interminable Night by Southern Lord Records and sophomore LP Deathless Master (2012, Jef, So. Lord).
After a 3 year hiatus that saw the various members (with like-minded members of the Bay Area Death Metal scene) concoct the likes of Vastum, Necrot and Lawless, the rebirthed Acephalix released its latest record, Decreation (2017, Greg/Earhammer, 20 Buck Spin).
Currently working on new studio material, Acephalix enters the next decade with the additions of Adam Camara (Fiend, Ensepulcher, Mortuous), Colin Tarvin (Mortuous, Evulse, Socioclast) on guitars, and delegate/live bassist Erika Osterhout (Scolex, Chthonic Deity, Painted Doll).

It is with great pleasure we can reveal the first band of the Kill-Town Death Fest VIII – “10 Years of Death” line-up. As most of you know, we put a lot of effort in presenting special performances and bands that have never played Europe before. The band we are about to announce tonight is a band we have had our eyes on for quite a while and we are elated to finally be able to present them for KTDF! This band goes all the way back to the early 90´ies with their oldschool, but yet technical take on Egyptian themed death metal. They rarely play live and have never set foot on this side of the Atlantic, so it’s with immense pride we can present the first European show ever of the mighty COFFIN TEXTS!!!
