Influential New York (U.SA.) death metal warriors IMMOLATION have been crushing souls for over 30 years, changing the soundscape of the genre in an uncompromising fashion.

ITP has IMMOLATION'S new release "ACTS OF GOD" on tap to review.

IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" kicks off with "ABANDONED", a short, strummed intro to the brutality to come.

IMMOLATION'S title track is "brootifully" magnificent."ACTS OF GOD" features a variety of crusty riffs, all evil and brutal. I love the break at the mid mark of "ACTS OF GOD" and how the track progresses from a strummed riff, to an all out onslaught. The main riff for "ACTS OF GOD" is simple but majestic.

IMMOLATION'S "THE AGE OF NO LIGHT" features some technical riffing, progressing for a simpler minimalist riffing.."THE AGE OF NO LIGHT" sounds evil almost orchestral in the tracks delivery. At 2:52, "THE AGE OF NO LIGHT" changes to a monolith of a plucked riff, ending there. .

IMMOLATION'S "NOOSE OF THORNS" features some excellent drumming courtesy of STEVE SHALATY. "NOOSE OF THORNS", a complete rager, featuring some excellent and definitive riffing. Catchy.

IMMOLATION'S "SHED THE LIGHT", again, feature catchy riffing for a well written hell ride of demonic death metal. Soo dark.

IMMOLATION'S "BLOODED" is another rager featuring some dissonant, thrash riffs performed at warp speed. "BLOODED" features some awesome riff and time changes as this track should summon up the devils in the mosh pit..

IMMOLATION'S . "OVERTURES OF THE WICKED" summons the demons with some delicious riffs, lightning fast speeds and goodness: More awesome riffs and time changes. "OVERTURES OF THE WICKED" is one of my favorite track on "ACTS OF GOD: Apocalyptic, atmospheric and unpredictable.

IMMOLATION'S "IMMORAL STAIN" features a monster riffs as guitarist ROBERT VIGNA has an awesome guitar tone with a sound from hell.

IMMOLATION'S "INCINERATION PROCESSION" enters with a death and roll riff as the track proceeds at mid pace. At 1:32 into "INCINERATION PROCESSION" the track changes riffs for a moodier appeal and dive bomb solos. . .

IMMOLATION'S "BROKEN PREY" kicks off with a proggy main riff before shifting to death and roll and standard death metal riffs. I love that squeal of a riff thrown into "BROKEN PREY" topped off with a melodic guitar solo. .

IMMOLATION'S "DERELICT OF SPIRIT" is a well written anthem of darkness with simple but emotive riffs, performed tight. I don't know how IMMOLATION guitarist does it, the riffs sound almost orchestral, very pronounced and definitive. .

IMMOLATION'S "WHEN HALOS BURN" reminds me of old school IMMOLATION with a shout along chorus attached to the riffing..Total headbanger, WOW! . .

IMMOLATION'S "LET THE DARKNESS IN" is a mid paced banger with pronounced riffs, tribal and excellent drumming as the track speeds up into a well written blast beat intensity. I love the time changes in this track. . . .

IMMOLATION'S "AND THE FLAMES WEPT" is a short instrumental track, moody, atmospheric plucked riffs

IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" closes with "APOSTLE", a tight, well performed, unholy death metal track stock full of awesome riffs, enough to fill a cauldron.

IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" is a dark, blasphemous opus of atmospheric, technical death metal intensity.

ROSS DOLAN delivers intelligent guttural vocals as guitarist ROBERT VIGNA and drummer STEVE SHALATY. bring the brutality with a variety of awesome blast beats and well written, emotive riffing.

IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" features excellent, crystal clear production courtesy of PAUL ORIFINO at MILLBROOK STUDIOS. IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" features excellent mixing as it is hard to pull off in the death metal genre.

IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" might be the bands best release to date. Chock full of awesome riffs and an overall great performance from this veteran band..

For unholy hearts, IMMOLATION'S "ACTS OF GOD" may be the best death metal release of 2022. . .
