After two excellent full lengths, an EP and extensive European touring, Portugals GAEREA are making waves in the black metal scene.

ITP V.022 has .GAEREA'S new release "MIRAGE"on tap to review.

GAEREA'S "MEMOIR" slowly creeps up on the listener with strummed guitars and whispered vocals before taking off in flight with blast beats and shouted vocals. As "MEMOIR'S" pace picks up, one can hear both the progressive and melodic nuances in the track.GAEREA'S guitar effects give credence to a dark, foreboding, desperate atmosphere. . .

GAEREA'S fast and technical "SALVE", a rager of a track featuring blast beats, melodic and dissonant riffs."SALVE'S swirling riffs combine definitive and often technical riffing with melodic parts.

GAEREA'S "DELUGE" starts off with creepy atmospherics before blasting off with all blackened abandon. "DELUGE" combines beautiful harmonic, atmospheres with tantalizing melodies and good songwriting.

Plucked guitar strumming opens GAEREA'S "ARSON", setting a prelude to an epic track. Definitive melodies adorn "ARSON" as the track smokes in the heat of an understated anthem.Slowly, riffs and interesting guitar effects are added to "ARSON", some technical, most melodic.

GAEREA'S. "EBB" kicks off with post metal influences combines with melodic tones and good riffs. "EBB" ofers up glorious, melodic atmospheres.

The title track from GAEREA'S new release offers some exquisite musicianship backed with wondrous melodies and great songwriting. The softer moments are just as powerful as the heavier passages with blast beats.

GAEREA'S. "MANTLE" is performed tight, combining ethereal, melodic moments into an oppressive cauldron of dark wasteland.

GAEREA'S. "MIRAGE" closes with "LAUDE"is a beautiful, melodic anthem of darkness with depressive and emotional vocals...
