FROM JUSTICE FOR THE WEST MEMPHIS 6 FACEBOOK:
As most of us know May 6, 1993 Stevie Edward Branch,Christopher Byers,Michael Moore were found brutally murdered in West Memphis,Arkansas. As a result Damien Echols was sentenced to death.Jessie Misskelley, Jr. was sentenced to life imprisonment plus two 20-year sentences, and Jason Baldwin was sentenced to life imprisonment. On August 19, 2011, Echols, along with Baldwin and Misskelley, entered an Alford plea. The judge then sentenced them to 18 years and 78 days, the amount of time they had served, and also levied a suspended sentence of 10 years. Echols sentence was reduced to three counts of first degree murder. Lawyers representing the West Memphis Three reached the plea deal that allowed the men to walk free. They were transferred to the hearing with their possessions. The plea deal did not technically result in a full exoneration; some of the convictions would stand, though the men would not admit guilt.
It would seem as though everyone has forgotten about the fact that 3 little boys were murdered while focusing on saving the lives of 3 teenage boys, now grown men. The real killer is still out there and that is a scary thought. Stevie ,Christopher, and Micheal deserve justice! Justice the state of Arkansas has denied them and their families .
On the other hand Echols,Misskelly and Baldwin had over 18 years of their lives stolen from them . While many of us are overjoyed they are now free men...are they really? They are still convicted murderers. Still convicted felons. How many times have you seen a man walk off of death row with 3 murder charges? The state of Arkansas knows they are innocent but doesn't want to answer for their wrong doings. They have no desire to find the REAL killer of those 3 young boys.
This is not the America I want to live in. This fight, this case, this tragedy isn't over.We need to stand up for the ourselves, our country , and more importantly the West Memphis 6! Spread the word!
