MITOCHONDRION are a Canadian blackened/death metal band featuring occult themed, atmospheric, brutal dissonant riffing, comparable to if INCANTATION married PORTAL and spawned a bastard son named MITOCHONDRION.

MITOCHONDRION combine terrifying atmospheres with intense brutality, mind bending riffs and progressive song structures. MITOCHONDRION's label PROFOUND LORE are known for releasing unique, dark, atmospheric artists, beyond the realm of extreme boundaries.

"PARISIGNOSIS", MITOCHONDRION's PROFOUND LORE debut has raised a few metal horns as perhaps one of the best Freshman releases of 2011.

MITOCHONDRION "PARISIGNOSIS" kicks off with the track "Plague Evockation (Pestilentiam Intus Vocamus, Voluntatem Absolvimus Part I". MITOCHONDRION "Plague Evockation" evokes a bizarre, backwards recorded burping growl, (akin to ANTII vocalist of DEMILICH) as the song morphs into some sick ass brutal death metal.Shawn Hache's creepy vocals dance in and out of MITOCHONDRION's atmospheric, dissonant tones liked toes on glass cutting through a thick later of intense riffs, ever expanding to the depths of apocalyptic chaos.

MITOCHONDRION's "Lex Ego Exitium (Pestilentiam Intus Vocamus, Voluntatem Absolvimus Part II)", evokes a down tuned, chug before morphing into a mesmerizing, melodic segue and...
MITOCHONDRION's "Lex Ego Exitium (1:18) builds an INTENSE soft/brutal dynamic, as I'm hearing..things..Wow, I'm scared..It sounds like there is an entity deep inside MITOCHODRION's brutality, stalking you out, provoking a nightmarish carnage...

MITOCHONDRION's "Lex Ego Exitium" segues into "Tetravirulence (Pestilentiam Intus Vocamus, Voluntatem Absolvimus Part III)" continuing with a battery of sickening, menacing brutality and very deep guttural vocals. MITOCHONDRION's "Tetravirulence" define each dissonant riff, every breakdown as a seed from a unique dark entity, morphing from atmospheric moodier passages to the most intense brutality. MITOCHONDRION's "Tetravirulence" riffs expand every 40 seconds into an other worldly entity, a subconscious night mare provoking a violent rage.

MITOCHONDRION's "Trials", evokes a creepy intro before the band crushes with a dissonant groove. MITOCHONDRION's "Trials" features ever expansive riffs with atmospheric melodic lead guitar, and Shawn Hache's menacing vocal performance. Every riff is a bullet in the head for an enemy as MITOCHONDRION's riffs shoot right to a target, as the shadowy entity darts into a dark atmosphere.

MITOCHONDRION's "rift/apex" is a :46 second instrumental evoking a droning, creepy atmosphere of dread, a death metal panic attack of sorts.

The title track of MITOCHONDRION's "PARISIGNOSIS", is absolutely brilliant. What ever the sound of that entity mixed in at :15, it's awesome, even if it's just a guitar squeal. MITOCHONDRION's "PARISIGNOSIS" is such a traumatizing, technical and insightful listen, the combination of dark atmosphere, good production and brutality can spook you into a freak hallucination, as indeed some entity somewhere is lurking, "You will See"...

MITOCHONDRION's "Banishment (Undecaphosphoric)" evokes droning combined with military drumming as the tunes takes off into the most brutal and unholy of apocalyptic atmospheres. MITOCHONDRION's "Banishment (Undecaphosphoric)" evokes a drone/noise interlude (2:47) before the band blasts off for their most accessible track into complete brutality and apocalyptic oblivion.

MITOCHONDRION "PARISIGNOSIS" closes with three ambient tracks and "Kathenotheism", an epic instrumental, hypnotic and mesmerizing..

MITOCHONDRION "PARISIGNOSIS" combine haunting, suffocating atmospheres with excellent riffing and brutality. MITOCHONDRION's "PARISIGNOSIS" features excellent production, a mirror to a subconscious dreaded fear amplified in your nightmares. MITOCHONDRION expand on every (technical) riff, morphing through dark, murky atmospheres into razor sharp entities, stalking you, beating you, crushing every bone and disappearing into a fog. MITOCHONDRION have uncanny musical similarities to PORTAL (Australia) and INCANTATION (USA), un-fucking canny, as in the long run, I'll take a few points off for lack of originality.

Canadian blackened/death metal upstarts MITOCHONDRION's "PARISIGNOSIS" are not only victorious as "Rookie Of The Year", the release can easily contend for death metal masterpiece of the year.

"You will See"...
