9/11 (9/11/2001): ANNIVERSARY:

The irony is this man is relative of a musician and a sound engineer: My only statement on this, the 12th anniversary of 9/11/2001, and the horrid events is A-R.I.P to all whom perished and thank you to first responders and to all compassionate support.

B- There IS a documentary about this man in this image entitled " The Falling Man" as the film
enlightens us with issues of Journalistic integrity, and the issue of whom this man was and re-uniting his remains with family. This falling man, at least at the time of documentary, was a "John Doe" whom worked for "Windows of the World", a restaurant on one of the top floors of the WTC.
Within recent years "The Falling Man" has been identified, and he was a relative of a member of the 70's disco group The Village People.
FROM WIKEPEDIA:
suggested that the man was Jonathan Briley, a 43-year-old employee of the North Tower restaurant.[10] Briley was initially identified by his brother, Timothy.[9] Lomonaco was able to identify Briley by his clothes and body-type. In one of the pictures, The Falling Man's clothes were blown away, revealing an orange undershirt similar to the shirt that Briley wore to work almost every day. His older sister, Gwendolyn, originally helped in identifying The Falling Man. She told reporters of The Sunday Mirror, "When I first looked at the picture...and I saw it was a man – tall, slim – I said, 'If I didn't know any better, that could be Jonathan.'" [11]
Briley, who lived in Mount Vernon, New York, was also a sound engineer. His brother Alex Briley was an original member of the 1970s disco group Village People. A charity has been set up for Jonathan Briley's family.

Every journalist and photographer is obligated to humanize their subjects, even in tragedy and bring dignity to their lives.
In an act of self censorship, Richard Drew's photo of Briley's fall from the WTC, in response to angry readers was somewhat censored. The photo, voyeuristic in it's tragedy, forced Americans to look at the decisions in a "what would you do scenario" and to face the tragedy of 9/11 instead of airbrushing the photos for the heroic actions, and the indelible American spirit.

A very important, gut wrenching photo, and the challenge of humanizing and finding the identity of Jonathan Briley.

New York City Ballet on September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001, the New York City Ballet was on a European tour that had taken the company from Edinburgh, Scotland to Athens, Greece and finally to Parma, Italy, where the company was scheduled to perform as part of the Verdi Festival at the Teatro Reggio that evening. As news of the events unfolding at home in New York began to make its way to the dancers of the New York City Ballet, the sense of fear and loss became more and more overwhelming, and Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins ultimately decided to cancel the evening's performance.

By curtain time, the sold-out audience had arrived at the Teatro Reggio, and stood in silence and mourned with the Company and the rest of the world. Martins addressed the audience from the stage, saying "We came here to dance, it is what we do, but our hearts are breaking and it is simply not possible for us to perform this evening. But we will be back tomorrow, and we will be honored to perform for all of you then."

NYCB did perform at the Teatro Reggio the following evening, September 12th, 2001, and 12 years to the day after, New York City Ballet offers NEW BEGINNINGS, which features an international team of collaborators, including director Davi Russo who was born and raised in New York City, British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, American dancer Maria Kowroski, Danish dancer Ask la Cour, and a ballet set to a score by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, which provides a moving backdrop to a film of profound and powerful beauty.
