CISPA: TO BE VOTED ON VIA U.S. SENATE THIS WEEK

The notorious cyber-security bill, CISPA is set to voted on via the U.S Senate THIS WEEK (no set date?) as we're hoping to "kill the bill" via protest.

FROM EFF.ORG:
Embed our Twitter tool on the your website and help us defend privacy. We now have two sizes available. The Senate is taking up cybersecurity this week, but we're hearing from staffers that our Tweets are coming through loud and clear. Code at the bottom of this site: https://cyberspying.eff.org/

FROM DEMAND PROGRESS:

We're taking part in an Internet-wide day of action: Last week's vote was delayed, so now the Senate version of CISPA looks like it'll be voted on later THIS WEEK. Pro-privacy changes have been added to the bill, but they don't go far enough.
Specifically, Al Franken and Rand Paul are pushing an amendment to make sure companies can't spy on their users' private communications.
Surveillance proponents are going to try to kill amendments like this one and eat into the pro-privacy changes that have already been made.
Congressional staffers say we can win these fights, but we need to up the volume of constituent contacts -- please help us bombard Congress with emails and calls this week.
Then use these links to share this campaign and the image at right, so everybody knows how urgent this effort is:

NASUM: BEHIND THE SCENES: THE FAREWELL TOUR IS COMPLETELY BOOKED

Swedish grind legends NASUM have sent this update as the bands farewell tour is booked solid. NASUM disbanded after the death of vocalist/guitarist  Mieszko Talarczyk in the 2004 Tsunami while on vacation in Thailand. NASUM are currently on a world farewell tour.

FROM NASUM:
With the addition of the Ieperfest in Belgium just before our Asian/Australian trip, we have confirmed the very last show of Nasum's Farewell tour. We thought we’d share something about the thoughts behind the shows we have done and will do.

One big issue has been to figure out exactly how many shows we should play. There are a lot of opinions about that particular matter, within the band as much as with fans. How many shows is enough? How much is too much?

Initially, we talked about only doing one exclusive show in Stockholm, Sweden to end it all. That idea was quickly discarded – we knew that there were a lot of people in all parts of the world that wanted to see this thing live and to share the farewell with us. It felt presumptuous to think that everyone who wanted to see Nasum could have the possibility to go to Sweden to see us blast. Even more importantly – we wanted to take the show on the road and and show you people what Nasum was supposed to be about. Besides, we would have to prepare and rehearse almost as much for one show as for an entire world tour. So what the hell, right?

In order for the shows to feel exciting, we decided to limit the amount and spread them out over a few months. And when we are done we will not play a single note again. We wanted to avoid milking this thing too much, and even more importantly, we wanted to make sure we had enough energy to blast full throttle all the way and make the performances as totally fucking blasting as Nasum shows were meant to be. Thus, three month tours and playing every pile of bricks imaginable was out of the question.

One thing was especially important: above all, this tour must be about having a good time. It should be about celebrating the great, great genre of grindcore, about honoring the ideas and history of Nasum, but also to get a chance to hang out, party and basically spend some insane times together. Everything else is secondary. This must not be a career move, a cash-in, a degradation of Nasum's legacy or something that would take advantage of Mieszko's tragic destiny. Grindcore in general, and Nasum in particular, is supposed to be about spitting in the face of the mainstream, about musical ferocity and jagged energy. We will not become what we despise.

With the conditions set in stone, we set out booking shows. Booking a tour that covers more or less the entire world in a very limited time frame is not something that’s done in a heartbeat. Since October of 2011, we have worked constantly with a booking agency to work out where we want to play, who is interested in having us, how we can make it work personally, etc etc. It's been a fucking ton of work. Visa applications, travel arrangements, designing, printing and ordering t-shirts, online stuff, trying to make ends meet, interviews, and a thousand other things has almost killed us. Many bands have a manager that takes care of all that boring biz, but in Nasum we choose to do as much as possible ourselves.

Even though we drew the line at one, or in some cases a few, show(s) per country, we somehow ended up with a daunting 61 shows! And still, there are many, many places we have been forced to leave out. Believe us, we really tried HARD to make it to Malaysia, South Korea, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Mexico, South Africa, and especially Indonesia and South America and other countries where there has been strong demand for Nasum. In some cases we couldn't find any time, in other cases we couldn't afford the travel, and in some cases sketchy concert organizers, or even religious holidays (!), kept us out.

Looking back now, we sometimes ask ourselves if we should have limited the amount of shows even more. But every (yes, every) show we have played this summer - from the first gig in Örebro via North America to the European summer fests, from the small, packed punk shows to the enormous festival stages - have been the best shows we have ever played. And we know we wouldn't have changed a single thing. As someone put it, ”doing this tour was a good call”, a pretty good summary.

Our expectations for shows ahead, from the Wacken, Vagos, Resurrection fests in Europe to Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, Japan and the final Euro tour in September/October, are through the roof.

We want to send special thanks out to Silvester, Greg, Martin and Johanna for working so hard to help us put this together, and huge kudos to our crew Janne, Antti and Hannes for going above and beyond to make the shows the blasting frenzy we want them to be. See you out there! NOW LET'S FUCKING GRIND!

ANTHRAX: CHARLIE BENANTE LAWYER RELEASES STATEMENT ON DOMESTIC BATTERY INCIDENT

William L. Hotopp, attorney for  New York thrash legends ANTHRAX has released this statement on drummer CHARLIE BENANATE's  7/27/2012, Elkart, Indiana arrest for "domestic assault in front of a child" as CHARLIE BENANTE's wife was also arrested.

FROM WILLIAM HOTOPP (ATTORNEY FOR CHARLIE BENANTE):

Last Friday night, Charlie Benante, drummer for the rock band Anthrax, was assaulted several times during an altercation that sent him to the emergency room with a gash at the back of his head that required several staples to close.
Mr. Benante and his six-year old daughter Mia had traveled to Elkart, IN to meet Mrs. Benante and her 17-year old son who was participating in a weekend baseball series. At some point, words were exchanged between Mr. Benante, Mrs. Benante and her male companion that led to a scuffle. Mrs. Benante hit Mr. Benante in the face, he pushed her away, and as he turned around to leave with Mia, Mrs. Benante assaulted him from behind, hitting him multiple times on the back of his head with a cell phone. Police were called, and both Mr. Benante and Mrs. Benante were detained for domestic battery in front of a child.
Mr. Benante is understandably distraught by this incident and that his daughter, who he dotes on, witnessed it.
Mr. Benante will appear in Elkhart County court this Friday, August 3, and we expect complete vindication.
Anthrax have been out on tour this summer as part of the Mayhem Festival. However, the drummer was forced to miss a good part of the tour due to a hand injury, with Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner taking over behind the kit.

THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR: 7/30/2012 TAMPA, FLORIDA (RITZ) SHOW DELAYED

JOB FOR A COWBOY and other insiders have sent this statement regarding the delay of the 7/30/2012 TAMPA, FLORIDA SUMMER SLAUGHTER show at RITZ YBOR.
Reports have stated a man passed a note to a bartender at RITZ YBOR making threats to a band on THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 tour,
as the male making threats stated he had two knives and a gun.
THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR features CANNIBAL CORPSE, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, GOATWHORE, THE FACELESS, VEIL OF MAYA, EXHUMED, FALLUJA, CEREBRAL BORE and many more extreme metal bands.
ABOVE PHOTO: COURTESY OF JAKE BOWEN (PERIPHERY), and EARACHE RECORDS.
FROM METAL INJECTION:
“a female attendee overheard somebody threaten to ‘shoot the singer of Job For A Cowboy’ and promptly told officials.”
Security consequently evacuated the venue and re-searched concertgoers for weapons; when none were found, the show was allowed to proceed, and attendees were treated to free drinks for their troubles.
I strongly suspect that whomever made the remark that began this ordeal was making a bad joke and that both the young woman who reported the comment and security were overreacting somewhat. That being said, it’s hard to judge anyone for being extra-sensitive in light of the recent shooting in Aurora, and, certainly, it’s better for people to be inconvenienced than hurt.

FROM JOB FOR A COWBOY:
"Just to clarify the events that happened this evening, a note was passed to the bartender stating that during our set a man with two knives and a gun was going to hurt people. Cops were called and after the proper precautions were taken, the show set off again, albeit a bit behind. No one was hurt and everyone involved is safe."

FROM UNNAMED SOURCE:
Tonight's Summer Slaughter concert at the Ritz in Tampa, Florida was delayed by "a couple of hours" after someone was reportedly overheard threatening to shoot the singer of JOB FOR A COWBOY, the Arizona extreme metal band which is one of almost a dozen acts taking part in the traveling festival. The security was notified and the police were called, resulting in the venue being evacuated while concertgoers were being searched for weapons. The show was eventually allowed to proceed.

FROM STEPHEN  RAFFERTY (METAL OBSERVER):
"JOB FOR A COWBOYfinished their set but we're almost two hours behind." He adds, "VEIL OF MAYA just did 25 minutes. Lots of people came late and had no idea what was going on. Crowd and police were tremendous."

FROM TAMPA BAY.COM:

TAMPA — The call to police Monday came from inside the Ritz Ybor, the scene of a day-long death-metal band tour called Summer Slaughter.
A young woman had told a bartender she'd overheard two people saying a man armed with a gun and knife would start killing people during an upcoming set by the band Job For a Cowboy.
More than a dozen officers sped to the Ybor City club on E Seventh Avenue around 6 p.m. as Job for a Cowboy took the stage and played a couple of songs.
Nearly 1,000 people were evacuated, and part of Seventh Avenue cordoned off with yellow crime-scene tape, while police swept the building. Officers, who brought bomb-sniffing dogs, found nothing, said Lt. Barry Moskowitz.
Nearly two hours later, the concert resumed. A private security firm, Sentry Security, made pat-down searches of each patron who came back in the door.
Moskowitz said it was unclear if the report was a prank. But given the recent killings in a Colorado movie theater, he said, police could not take a chance.
The unexpected interlude sent into the early evening sunlight the black-shrouded concertgoers, many of them wearing T-shirts featuring such bands as Goatwhore or bearing such world views as "Living Hell."
They griped, they stood with arms folded, they looked for sustenance.
"Sir dude, can we cross and get a beer?" a young man asked an officer, who nodded and lifted the crime tape for passage.
Justin Freeman, 27, of Wesley Chapel, had been waiting to see the headliner band, Cannibal Corpse. He said he couldn't imagine violence at a death metal tour, where fans indulge brief slips into fantasy and laugh at intentionally overwrought lyrics.
"Who would want to kill at a death metal show?" he asked.
Indeed, it was the last thing on their minds when police arrived.
"We thought it was a drug thing," said Mike Persach, 25, of Tampa.
One young man waiting to get back in begged not to mention his name in the newspaper. He said his mother would have a fit.

We're starting in France and Belgium, got the possibility to perform in Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Romania, but for any of these places to be realistic we need to get there and find more places for concerts on our way there or the expenses for traveling there and then somewhere else will simply be too much for any organizer to pay.

Contact us and keep spreading the word about this tour, all help is needed and most appreciated!

MINISTRY: PARIS Al Jourgensen Hospitalized

Texas industrial metal legends MINISTRY have sent this statement as mainman AL JOURGENSON has been hospitalized for "dehydration" as the band cut last nights set in Paris, France short.

FROM MINISTRY:
July 27, 2012 PARIS 9:05 pm Ministry Front man Al Jourgensen collapsed on-stage during the live Ministry performance and was rushed to hospital via ambulance where he was examined by numerous physicians and diagnosed to have had a full-system collapse due to extreme dehydration and heat exhaustion intensified by the lack of ventilation on stage at the venue. Doctors confirm via blood tests conducted that Jourgensen’s alcohol blood levels were well below normal and no narcotics were found in his system. As a result, Ministry has cancelled today’s appearance at the L’Etaples France Rock en Stock Festival in order to allow Mr. Jourgensen a few days rest to recuperate and receive additional medical attention in Switzerland. Jourgensen fully intends to complete the remaining shows on the Ministry DeFiBriLlaTouR European leg.
Jourgensen extends his most sincere apologies to his devoted Parisian fans who displayed so much love, respect and concern for him before and after the Ministry show. Says Jourgensen: “I will make it up to you, somehow. I love Paris, I love the Parisian people. I’m so sorry …but, shit happens and the shit hit the fan for me last night.”

INDESINENCE – Complete Work On New Album, New MP3 Available

UK cult death/doomsters INDESINENCE have completed work on the bands anticipated new release entitled  “Vessels Of Light And Decay”,
produced by Greg Chandler (ESOTERIC) and Jaime Gomez Arellano and mastered for CD by James Plotkin. INDESINENCE  “Vessels Of Light And Decay”  will be unleashed 9/18/2012 on PROFOUND LORE RECORDS.

FROM PROFOUND LORE:

UK cult atmospheric death/doom band INDESINENCE have completed work on their much-anticipated new album “Vessels Of Light And Decay”.
Six years after the band’s follow-up to their colossal “Noctambulism” debut (and nine years since we were blown away by their “Ecstatic Lethargy” demo when it came out), “Vessels Of Light And Decay”, while only being the band’s second full-length in their decade-plus year career, shows the obsessiveness and fine attention to detail in which INDESINENCE employ when creating such vast, epic, ocean engulfing monstrous soundscapes.  During the listening discourse of “Vessels Of Light And Decay” one will witness how this work of deathly doom metal art evolves into a monolithic sonic monstrosity making them one of the UK’s most prominent death/doom bands today.
Described by the band (who have ties and comradeship with bands such as Grave Miasma, Cruciamentum, Pantheist, Code, Esoteric, and Adorior) as “A full frontal assault of Celtic Frost, Swans, Demoncy, and Barclay James Harvest”, “Vessels Of Light And Decay” is a distinct and singular death/doom masterwork which will be realized as an important pillar of the genre.  One that will carry on the tradition and foundations laid upon by such classic releases as “Lost Paradise”, “Gothic”, “Crestfallen”, “Pentecost III”, “The Thrash Of Naked Limbs”, and “As The Flower Withers”.
To  be officially released Sept 18th and to be lavishly packaged in a thick hardcover digibook (this will be the only format the album will be available in, initially), tracklisting for “Vessels Of Light And Decay” goes as follows:
  1. Flux
  2. Paradigms
  3. Vanished Is The Haze
  4. Communion
  5. La Madrugada Eterna
  6. Fade (Further Beyond)
  7. Unveiled
FROM INDESINENCE:
"Vessels of Light and Decay" artwork, by Jaume Mayans & Daniela Kropeit (MMonsterbrush).

Recorded with Greg Chandler and Jaime Gomez Arellano and mastered for CD by James Plotkin. Stunning layout by Chimere Noire and equally stunning photography by Pino Fabelo. Thank you all!

"Vessels..." will be out through Profound Lore in late August 2012, on hard-cover digibook with 24-page booklet. Look out for an audio preview here soon.
