THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR: 7/30/2012 TAMPA, FLORIDA (RITZ) SHOW DELAYED

JOB FOR A COWBOY and other insiders have sent this statement regarding the delay of the 7/30/2012 TAMPA, FLORIDA SUMMER SLAUGHTER show at RITZ YBOR.
Reports have stated a man passed a note to a bartender at RITZ YBOR making threats to a band on THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 tour,
as the male making threats stated he had two knives and a gun.
THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER 2012 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR features CANNIBAL CORPSE, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, GOATWHORE, THE FACELESS, VEIL OF MAYA, EXHUMED, FALLUJA, CEREBRAL BORE and many more extreme metal bands.

FROM METAL INJECTION:
“a female attendee overheard somebody threaten to ‘shoot the singer of Job For A Cowboy’ and promptly told officials.”
Security consequently evacuated the venue and re-searched concertgoers for weapons; when none were found, the show was allowed to proceed, and attendees were treated to free drinks for their troubles.
I strongly suspect that whomever made the remark that began this ordeal was making a bad joke and that both the young woman who reported the comment and security were overreacting somewhat. That being said, it’s hard to judge anyone for being extra-sensitive in light of the recent shooting in Aurora, and, certainly, it’s better for people to be inconvenienced than hurt.

FROM JOB FOR A COWBOY:
"Just to clarify the events that happened this evening, a note was passed to the bartender stating that during our set a man with two knives and a gun was going to hurt people. Cops were called and after the proper precautions were taken, the show set off again, albeit a bit behind. No one was hurt and everyone involved is safe."

FROM UNNAMED SOURCE:
Tonight's Summer Slaughter concert at the Ritz in Tampa, Florida was delayed by "a couple of hours" after someone was reportedly overheard threatening to shoot the singer of JOB FOR A COWBOY, the Arizona extreme metal band which is one of almost a dozen acts taking part in the traveling festival. The security was notified and the police were called, resulting in the venue being evacuated while concertgoers were being searched for weapons. The show was eventually allowed to proceed.

FROM STEPHEN  RAFFERTY (METAL OBSERVER):
"JOB FOR A COWBOYfinished their set but we're almost two hours behind." He adds, "VEIL OF MAYA just did 25 minutes. Lots of people came late and had no idea what was going on. Crowd and police were tremendous."

FROM TAMPA BAY.COM:

TAMPA — The call to police Monday came from inside the Ritz Ybor, the scene of a day-long death-metal band tour called Summer Slaughter.
A young woman had told a bartender she'd overheard two people saying a man armed with a gun and knife would start killing people during an upcoming set by the band Job For a Cowboy.
More than a dozen officers sped to the Ybor City club on E Seventh Avenue around 6 p.m. as Job for a Cowboy took the stage and played a couple of songs.
Nearly 1,000 people were evacuated, and part of Seventh Avenue cordoned off with yellow crime-scene tape, while police swept the building. Officers, who brought bomb-sniffing dogs, found nothing, said Lt. Barry Moskowitz.
Nearly two hours later, the concert resumed. A private security firm, Sentry Security, made pat-down searches of each patron who came back in the door.
Moskowitz said it was unclear if the report was a prank. But given the recent killings in a Colorado movie theater, he said, police could not take a chance.
The unexpected interlude sent into the early evening sunlight the black-shrouded concertgoers, many of them wearing T-shirts featuring such bands as Goatwhore or bearing such world views as "Living Hell."
They griped, they stood with arms folded, they looked for sustenance.
"Sir dude, can we cross and get a beer?" a young man asked an officer, who nodded and lifted the crime tape for passage.
Justin Freeman, 27, of Wesley Chapel, had been waiting to see the headliner band, Cannibal Corpse. He said he couldn't imagine violence at a death metal tour, where fans indulge brief slips into fantasy and laugh at intentionally overwrought lyrics.
"Who would want to kill at a death metal show?" he asked.
Indeed, it was the last thing on their minds when police arrived.
"We thought it was a drug thing," said Mike Persach, 25, of Tampa.
One young man waiting to get back in begged not to mention his name in the newspaper. He said his mother would have a fit.
