Ten years ago today Type O Negative frontman Pete Steele sadly passed away.
Type O were a massive influence on Cradle and still are (their albums ‘Bloody Kisses’ and ‘October Rust’ help taint The Principle...’ and ‘ Dusk’ respectively) and in 2003 it was our pleasure to have them as special guests on our tour of North America. And as you can imagine there were plenty of awesome memories to come from that unholy alliance (some of the less-controversial incident I think I divulged in the Gospel Of Filth).
Anyhoo, long story short, Peter was always super-nice with me, a true gentleman and a mega-talent to aspire to. I mean, I had to get my self-deprecating sarcasm from somewhere, right?
So, as midnight approaches on sable raven wing, I raise a glass of finest Chianti to this true gothic nobleman who shalt live on forever in our hearts and souls. And of course his music. RIP. 🤘🏻🧛🏻♂️

I'm glad I/we manage to share stage and hang out before he passed away. Such a nice and talented guy.

years ago April 14th we lost, but celebrate the ascendancy of Peter
Steele a true artist & influence on Evoken even today. It was also a
day we were to leave for Roadburn Festival invited by guest curator
& reason why we (Evoken) exist, Tom G Warrior. Unfortunately our
flights were grounded due to the eruption of the Icelandic volcano
Eyjafjallajökull. John, on the other hand left on a different flight,
but was stranded for several days in Tilburg. Taking from us the
opportunity to perform & play along side of Triptykon. Hopefully,
we'll make that happen at some point. Indeed it was a terrible day.
