BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR: ORGANIZER VICKY HUNGERFORD DISCIPLINED FOR ANTI INCLUSION

 

BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR organizer VICKY HUNGERFORD has been disciplined and has stepped down from her position due to not understanding pronouns regarding the LGBTQ community and threatening to delete e-mails from them.

Statement from Sylvia Lancaster.
As you can imagine, we are reeling from last night’s Tweet by Bloodstock’s Vicky Hungerford.
Bloodstock has always welcomed the Foundation and the Sophie Lancaster stage there has been a source of pride.
For a charity whose very foundation is based on combatting intolerance and prejudice, our continued presence at Bloodstock seems untenable.
At the same time, we believe in educating people about these issues and that by bringing them with us, we all move forward. Being honest, we can see merit in both walking away and also in being in the very place that so evidently needs our work.
Having lost my daughter to hate and intolerance I do not take Vicky’s comments lightly.
In our work we meet people on a daily basis who struggle with their own identity or are struggling because of the prejudice, harassment or violence they are subjected to from other people, simply because of who they are.
We will be meeting with Bloodstock to talk about our future relationship.
