ANDREA MEYER performed on CRADLE OF FILTH'S debut release ("THE PRINCIPLE OF EVIL MADE FLESH") and fronted projects of her own AGHAST, NEBELHEXE and HAGALAZ RUNEDANCE.
ANDREA MEYER also performed on SATYRICON's 1996 release :"NEMESIS DIVINA".
ANDREA MEYER was married to TOMAS "SAMOTH" HAUGEN, guitarist of Norwegian black metal legends EMPEROR.
ANDREA MEYER'S murderer, ESPEN BRAATHEN, a Danish citizen, is being held for a psychiatric evaluation. Norwegian police authorities are not sure if BRAATHEN'S attack (via bow and arrow) is religiously motivated as BRAATHEN is Muslim. .

Rest in peace Andrea Meyer, who was one of the casualties of the recent (apparently religious-motivated) spree killing in Norway. Perhaps best known for her pagan / shamanic writing and work in musical projects Aghast, Nebelhexë and Haglaz’ Runedance, she was also an early member of Cradle of Filth, contributing to their live shows and debut album.

Known under her artist name Nebelhexe, and also through Aghast and Hagalaz' Runedance, as well as doing vocals on Cradle of Filth's debut album amongst other things.
I remember meeting Andrea in person back in the day when she was married to Samoth from Emperor, and together with Ihsahn and his wife too - that moment still echoes in my mind as a profound memory in the early days of Wallachia.
She was a pioneer with the pagan, ambient/folk and industrial soundscapes. A creative, free soul.

He's
apparently a mentally ill person who got radicalized and used religion
as an excuse and reasoning for these vile acts. It's just a flipped coin
of the same mentality on the other side with guys like Breivik,
Manshaus, the Christchurch attacker, etc. We take a stand against all
this bullshit, as much as we criticize and blame religion for all the
evil it brings, still to this day, into our world. Just another example
of an act so gruseome that it could only be INSPIRED by religion, as we
said in the first place.

you probably know a man killed some people in Norway this week. This
post isn't made to speak about it. but to mourn the loss of Andrea
Meyer (and the rest of course), quite well-known in the black metal
scene, but specially in the Nordic folk/neo-folk scene as the creator of
very respected project as Hagalaz Runedance or Nebelhexë, among others.
Andrea was a very talented artist and a truly lover of the Pagan
culture and music. She made this kind of ambient folk way before it
became popular. So let´s honor her with what I consider her best album.

I
remember Andrea (and Tania), Aghast. I was kinda in awe of these dark
queens. Andrea had just moved to Norway, after spending some time in the
UK working with Cradle of Filth among other things. Anyway, she had a
lot of stories to tell a young dark lord, and introduced me to quite a
few bands, books and things a bit on the outside of the traditional
BM-fare. We hung out in the nineties heydays, basically, and towards the
end of the millennium Andrea also reached out asking for a (re)mix of a
track for her Hagalaz’ Runedance. She disappeared a bit on me (or maybe
it was the other way around) in the following years – I had distanced
myself a bit from the BM scene by 2000, and I suspect so did she. Last
time I saw her was in The Old Town of Oslo a few years ago, and now
suddenly I see her face in the paper, instantly recognisable. Beautiful
lady. A victim of random violence. It makes me sad… just, really fucking
sad. And I keep thinking how times have changed from those “dangerous
days” of yore to actually being dangerous. World’s off the hinges, for
sure. Glückliche Reise, Andrea, old friend. RIP. K xx

Sad news. Stayed with Tomas and Andrea in a frosty wintertime and we did 3 albums with/for Andrea. Met her multiple times and she was extremely inspiring for all people into Paganism before it became a hype. Sad sad sad. May she be a True Shieldmaiden now. R.I.P. Andrea, I will cherish the memories.
