ERIC GREIF, longtime manager of late DEATH and CONTROL DENIED guitarist CHUCK SCHULDINER has died at 59.
ERIC GREIF was an insulin dependent diabetic, briefly cured by a pancreas transplant. ERIC GREIF was on dialysis for the last 5 years searching for a kidney donor but was unable to find one in time.
ERIC GREIF was also the entertainment attorney for OBITUARY, MOTLEY CRUE, MASSACRE CYNIC and ANCIIENTS.
ERIC GREIF helped put together the 2013 DEATH TO ALL (DEATH TRIBUTE) tours featuring former members of DEATH.
DEATH re-issued the bands catalog via RELAPSE RECORDS early last decade.
FROM DEATH:
The
world has lost an absolute warrior and proponent for metal and music in
general. Eric was first introduced into my life as a child when he was
chucks manager and friend then later on in my late twenties when we met
in Philadelphia to strike up a deal with relapse records to finally
give chucks legacy a proper home. All of you are enjoying chucks music
on all of these wonderful platforms and releases now because of this
man. Eric was average in physical stature but once he opened his mouth
there was no doubt he was a giant. He was a loving father and one of the
most articulate and interesting men I’ve ever had the pleasure of
knowing. Please keep his mother and children in your thoughts. The art
of existence is fragile indeed…..
FROM GRUESOME:
Today
we mourn the loss of longtime Death manager Eric Greif. When we first
even thought of doing Gruesome, it was Eric who's blessing we sought and
he was very supportive of the band. He truly loved Chuck and was always
so happy to see his legacy live on. Eric was also a dedicated and
loving father to his two children...much love and light to them in this
difficult time. RIP
FROM AGORAPHOBIC NEWS:
Rest in Peace Eric Greif
FROM FLESHOLD:
Sad news of the passing of Eric Greif
A true Death Metal legend and manager.
R.I.P Eric
FROM "PULL THE PLUG PATCHES":
“Although he often spoke about his failing health, I always felt that he
would pull through since his spirit and resolve seemed so firm,”
statement from Pull the Plug Patches reads. “He was
always very gracious and supportive of what we were trying to achieve
with our company. In particular, he genuinely appreciated that we
approached him for approval as too many times over the past 20 years
people have simply helped themselves to DEATH‘s intellectual property, despite the financial difficulties that Chuck’s family faced following his passing.
FROM ANCIIENTS.
Today we mourn our dear friend and confidant, Eric Grief.
Eric was such an amazing human and we clicked with him from the first moment we met. He got us our very first tour with Death to All back in 2013 and it was amazing to spend that time on the road with him.
We learnt so much from him over the years and he was always willing to lend an ear and give advice where he could.
You will be greatly missed my friend. Our deepest condolences got out to his amazing children, Eddie and Sammy.
We will be cranking Human by @deathofficial all day long. Rest in Power!!!
FROM TERRY BUTLER (FORMALLY OF DEATH):
Rest In Peace Eric !
You suffered for so long .
Suffer no more brother !
FROM JACK KOSHICK (PROMOTER): :
This
is just terrible news. Eric was only weeks from a possible transplant. I
spoke with him last week and he appeared optimistic. May God smile on
you old friend!
FROM JOHN MCENTEE (INCANTATION):
Condolences
FROM ETERNAL JUDGEMENT:
R.I.P. Eric Greif! Believe it or not, this legendary manager was one of the first and probably the most influential person to give us good feedbacks when whe released the "Left For Dead" videoclip years ago!! This meant a lot for us, he said something like "good stuff, where are you guys from". Way enough for us!
R.I.P. Eric Greif!
