Mother nature has been cruel to us in the North East of the U.S.A. Yesterday we woke up to snow in April here in the Hudson Valley area of New York.. Today a 4.8 .Earthquake from New Jersey felt all around the North East. And the finale will be a total solar eclipse darkening the skies during the afternoon on Monday.
Look out for aftershocks specifically in Northern New Jersey and Manhattan New York City as both are on fault lines. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Be safe folks.
FROM NEW YORK STATE GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL:
I’ve directed state agencies to survey our bridges, roads, railways, major transmission lines and dams, and any other potentially vulnerable infrastructure to ensure they are safe.
There are no reports of damage or injuries from this morning's earthquake at this time.
My team has been in communication with The White House, Mayor Eric Adams, Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA, and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey regarding any impacts the earthquake may have had, and I've spoken with Governor Phil Murphy to offer assistance.
We are monitoring and preparing for the possibility of aftershocks. If there is one, please follow these safety tips:
Drop, cover your neck, and hold onto something sturdy
Take caution near buildings
If you hear shifting or any unusual noises, go outside
New Yorkers traveling via rail today should know that Amtrak and Metropolitan Transportation Authority are running on a regular schedule.
