ITP V.026 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. TIM CURRY (ACTOR)

 

 

 Actor TIM CURRY died 8/25/2026 at 80. 

TIM CURRY was influential during his role as FRANK AND FURTER on the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. 

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE show was the longest running film in history. 

 TIM CURRY had a long career in acting in films, television and theater.

More often than not people assume the label is named after Dracula, it’s not. While I’ve long been fascinated with the origin story and lore of vampires, I’d be lying if I said that was my only influence for the namesake. As a child I did file my teeth to a point and crave blood but that was because I was a weirdo loser. The RHPS was something I always had in life, it raised my mother and idolizing her I of course became enamored with it as well. Science fiction and the art of 70s is the most spectacular to me. It was the single greatest era of art and experimentation in my opinion and what opened the minds of so many creative dreamers was the explosion of the rocky horror picture show and not a single performer was more glamorous and recognized for their gender bending beyond Tim Curry. While a majority of folks are uncomfortable in their own sexuality and body, Tim had no issue embracing his inner freak to shine.

For me it’s hard to truly mourn folks that have lived a long successful and dream life while so many others die young and horribly but the west as a whole losing two icons in 24 hours is brutal. RIP

Today, we’re remembering another legend we’ve lost.

Tim Curry was loved for his extraordinary work across film, television, theatre and music. From The Rocky Horror Picture Show and IT to Legend, his performances, which he made his own, have stayed with people long after they first encountered them.

He was unapologetically himself. Bold, theatrical and creative. He challenged expectations and never seemed afraid to stand out. That feels particularly relevant to the work we do at the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, where we believe no one should be judged or targeted simply for being who they are.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show holds a special place within our community and Tim’s unforgettable performance as Frank-N-Furter helped make it the cultural phenomenon it remains today.

And perhaps his most famous words still say it best:

“Don’t dream it. Be it.”

Simple words, but a powerful reminder that there is no wrong way to be yourself.

Thank you, Tim, for the performances, the memories and the inspiration to embrace who we are.
