“The Storm” is the third and final single from “The Expanse”, the upcoming album by atmospheric black metal project SKUGGOR, set for release on September 4, 2026.

Where much of the album drifts through trance-like introspection and expansive stillness, “The Storm” descends into something harsher and more immediate. The track represents the album’s darkest point – a confrontation with exposure, collapse, and the unforgiving force of the natural world.

Yet beneath its aggression lies the same underlying duality that shapes the album. Violence gives way to calm, and devastation gradually opens into renewal. As the song unfolds, harsh momentum recedes into spacious acoustic passages, revealing a quieter landscape on the other side.

“The Storm” is probably the darkest and most aggressive track on “The Expanse”. The first half of this song was written to evoke the feeling of being trapped in a torrential storm somewhere in northern Sweden – cold, isolated, and completely exposed. The second half represents the feeling after the storm has passed: the mist rising from the ground and a sense of rebirth emerging from the devastation
