ITP METAL AT THE MOVIES is back again with part 18 the "THE PROMISE", a HBO documentary on the making of the BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN classic release "Darkness On the Edge Of Town" (and one of ITP's authors fave classic rock releases). "THE PROMISE" premiers on HBO TONIGHT 10/7/2010 at 9PM.

Tonight's (October 7th) the night that Bruce Springsteen fans have been waiting on, when HBO premieres the new documentary The Promise: The Making of 'Darkness On The Edge Of Town' at 9 p.m. The new film, directed by Thom Zimny, features never-before seen studio footage from the albums' recording sessions, shot by Springsteen's friend, filmmaker Barry Reebo. In addition to recollections by Springsteen, manager Jon Landau and former manager Mike Appel, The Promise features recent in-depth interviews with the E Street Band -- including one of the final interviews by the late Danny Federici.
Max Weinberg admits that he was blown away by the 1977/1978 studio footage featured in The Promise: "Y'know, when people see the making of that record, as I said, we were so into it I wasn't even aware we were being filmed. So it's a little bit of an out-of-body experience for me to see that (footage), but I know that the fans are really, really going to enjoy it."

THE PROMISE: THE MAKING OF DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN goes into the studio with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for the recording of their fourth album. Grammy- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny has collaborated with Springsteen on this documentary, gaining access to never before seen footage shot from 1976 to 1978, capturing home rehearsals and recording sessions that reveal Springsteens creative process at work.
