ANI DIFRANCO AND PETER MULVEY: POST NEW TRACK "TAKE DOWN YOUR FLAG"

U.S. folk singer/songwriter ANI DIFRANCO, via singer/songwriter PETER MULVEY have written "TAKE DOWN YOUR FLAG", a collaborative (various artists) track dedicated to Tywanza Sanders and each of the victims of last weeks shooting (via 21 year old white supremacist Dylann Roof) at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Politicians including SOUTH CAROLINA, USA's governor NIKKI HALEY, are suggesting the CONFEDERATE FLAG, long a Southern Civil War symbol, should be taken down as the flag is considered a hate symbol for the gullible.

ANI DIFRANCO released "Allergic To Water",  11/4/2015 via RIGHTEOUS BABE RECORDS.
PETER MULVEY released "Silver Ladder" (2014).

FROM ABC NEWS:
Charleston massacre victim State Sen. Rev. Clementa Pinckney is the first African-American since Reconstruction to rest in honor in the South Carolina Statehouse Rotunda: http://abcn.ws/1RxFy1n

FROM PETER MULVEY:

CLEMENTA PINCKNEY WILL LIE IN STATE ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. PLEASE DO NOT FLY THAT FLAG OVER HIS BODY.
People, I need your help.
So many of you have helped already, have shared this song, have covered this song, have re-written this song. There's something more I am asking you to do: please tweet and share this song to NPR, to NPR Music, to any and all of the hosts of NPR, to CNN, to Fox News (yes to Fox News)... to local radio, to local TV, to anyone you know who can get it out there more. Tweet the versions by the people who have a larger profile than me. Send up your own versions.
If there's any chance that we can add to the pressure already put on by our unlikely allies Mitt Romney and Walmart, to our likely allies the NAACP, to get that flag lowered to half-staff by tomorrow, when the Reverend Pinckney lies in state beneath it... ANYTHING you can do, please do it.
Do you know Bruce Springsteen? John Legend? Willie Nelson? Beyonce? Put in a good word.
Frankly, the magic bullet is right there in front of us: Stephen Colbert is from South Carolina. He is the only human on Earth who could just hop that fence, lower the flag to half-staff, and they'd wait to arrest him until he finished. If anyone knows Stephen, please, sign him up.
All kidding aside (and by the way I'm not kidding) seriously: send this song out there.
Here's a version where I've re-written the verse to be about Reverend Pinckney and Wednesday. I also changed the ending, left out "Take it down for good" because maybe that will reach the people who need reaching more effectively. We can talk about taking it down for good again on Thursday. (And I will).
Thank you. Please do anything you can to help.

Thank you, Ani DiFranco, for adding your verse, and your voice to this song. It means a lot to me.

Last week Peter Mulvey wrote "Take Down Your Flag" and asked different artists to contribute a verse for each of the Charleston shooting victims. Here is Ani's verse for Tywanza Sanders. - RBR
