“CRYPTA enters a new era with “A Portrait of Decay,” the first track to showcase the band’s new lineup and offer a glimpse into what fans can expect from their future sound.

After announcing Victoria Villarreal as their new permanent guitarist in April this year, completing the four-piece lineup alongside Fernanda Lira (bass, vocals), Luana Dametto (drums), and Tainá Bergamaschi (guitar), the band now unleashes this brand-new track, building anticipation for CRYPTA’s next chapter.

“A Portrait of Decay” hits like an aggressive death metal steamroller while exploring dissociation as a means of enduring pain and suffering. All of this is brought to life by an intensely aggressive yet atmospheric and melancholic instrumental attack, paired with the spine-tingling vocals of Fernanda Lira.

The song is accompanied by an official music video that, at first glance, may seem

distinctive compared to the song’s sonic intensity. The script for the video was written by CRYPTA’s drummer Luana Dametto, who states:

“The video clip is both an almost poetic contrast to the harsh death metal sound but also a cinematic depiction of the lyrics: An ethereal and almost dream-like landscape that represents someone's true state of being, clear thoughts and light emotions, that slowly dissipate with the passing of time and changing of surroundings, and with the night and a much darker environment, after a while, feelings of being adrift and astray arise, showing that our conditions and time can directly change the way we see ourselves and the way we feel and interact.“

The new single just in time for CRYPTA to kick off their North American tour with Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Septicflesh, and Thrown Into Exile, beginning on October 5 in Riverside, CA.

“A Portrait of Decay” was recorded in Belgium in June this year and engineered, mixed, and mastered by Yarne Heylen at Project Zero Studio. The artwork of the single cover was created by Brazilian artist Marcos Miller.

A CRYPTA entra em uma nova era com “A Portrait of Decay”, a primeira faixa a apresentar a nova formação da banda e oferecer um vislumbre do que os fãs podem esperar de sua sonoridade daqui para frente.

Após anunciar Victoria Villarreal como sua nova guitarrista permanente em Abril deste ano, completando a formação de quatro integrantes ao lado de Fernanda Lira (baixo, vocais), Luana Dametto (bateria) e Tainá Bergamaschi (guitarra), a banda agora apresenta esta faixa inédita, aumentando a expectativa para o próximo capítulo da CRYPTA.

“A Portrait of Decay” chega como um rolo compressor de death metal agressivo, enquanto aborda a dissociação como uma forma de suportar a dor e o sofrimento. Tudo isso ganha vida por meio de uma sonoridade intensamente agressiva, mas também atmosférica e melancólica, acompanhada pelos vocais arrepiantes de Fernanda Lira.

A música vem acompanhada de um videoclipe oficial que, à primeira vista, pode parecer contrastar com a intensidade sonora da faixa. O roteiro foi escrito pela baterista da CRYPTA, Luana Dametto, que explica:

“O videoclipe é tanto um contraste quase poético com o som pesado do death metal quanto uma representação cinematográfica da letra: uma paisagem etérea e quase onírica que representa o verdadeiro estado de alguém, com pensamentos claros e emoções leves, que lentamente se dissipam com a passagem do tempo e a mudança dos ambientes. Com a chegada da noite e de um ambiente muito mais sombrio, depois de algum tempo surgem sentimentos de estar à deriva e perdido, mostrando que nossas condições e o tempo podem mudar diretamente a maneira como nos enxergamos, como nos sentimos e como interagimos.”

O novo single chega pouco antes de a CRYPTA iniciar sua turnê pela América do Norte ao lado de Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Septicflesh e Thrown Into Exile, com início marcado para 5 de Outubro em Riverside, Califórnia.

“A Portrait of Decay” foi gravada na Bélgica em junho deste ano e teve engenharia de áudio, mixagem e masterização realizadas por Yarne Heylen, no Project Zero Studio. A arte da capa do single foi criada pelo artista brasileiro Marcos Miller
