UNLOCKING THE TRUTH: SIGNS RECORD DEAL WITH SONY MUSIC?

THE GREAT BROOKLYN HARD ROCK SWINDLE: Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York based hardcore/hard rock trio UNLOCKING THE TRUTH are said to have inked a 1.8 million deal with SONY MUSIC.
UNLOCKING THE TRUTH's SONY MUSIC incentive based record deal includes a $60, 000 advance, 17 % royalties and options for more advances if the trio sells 250, 000 units.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH went gone viral with a YOU TUBE video of the band rocking NYC at TIMES SQUARE. UNLOCKING THE TRUTH have since signed to a booking agent who scored the trio a spring 2014 west coast mini tour including COACHELLA and a gig with MOTORHEAD.

UNLOCKING THE TRUTH have recently worked with vocal coach MELISSA CROSS, author of "The Zen Of Screaming" (whom also worked with ANGELA GOSSOW formerly of ARCH ENEMY, RANDY BLYTHE of LAMB OF GOD and COREY TAYLOR of SLIPKNOT ) to include vocals in the bands arsenal.

All three members of UNLOCKING THE TRUTH are in 8th grade and are only 12 or 13 years old.
It is unlikely (music industry standard) that UNLOCKING THE TRUTH will see any money (royalties) until SONY recoups the advance IF 250, 000 (minimum) units are sold.

The five release contract was submitted to Manhattan court last Friday due to UNLOCKING THE TRUTH band members underage status.

NOT a fan of UNLOCKING THE TRUTH.Generally, as hard rock, metal, hardcore and extreme metal don't sell units and can't economically compete with accessible music, specifically on debuts (unless they get a good producer/songwriter). Regarding my cynicism of the music industry, and considering their age and overall music industry sharks, I'm perhaps that much more terrified for these very young cats. I don't know what to say, "congrats" or "oh wow, you're over a million in debt, all of this before ya finish high school. ". Put some $ away, finish high school and go to college. As for their age, they are strong enough to be committed, learned to play their instruments and accomplish something. Over all, any mall core band are better than UNLOCKING THE TRUTH. One would really feel for the hard core hard rock veterans whom didn't get major label support, touring out of a mini van, or that chance. Perhaps the organic hardcore/hard rock/extreme metal bands know better as they are doing just fine on indies. . However, I would encourage any kid to shred and play, and the black community to rock out and shred too.
I hope UNLOCKING THE TRUTH don't get exploited, this already sounds like one big novelty act gimmick.
