FROM KAYO DOT:

One of my major goals with Kayo Dot in the past twelve years has been, simply, to be able to bring my own band to cool places and share interesting, amazing experiences with my friends who have given so much of their time and effort for their belief in my vision. As everyone knows, there's very little material reward in this game, so whenever we get the chance to go to a new faraway place– especially a place I never thought I'd have the opportunity to visit– it feels like all the drudgery has been worth it. This is amplified for me when it's not in the context of me as a sideman in someone else's band, but rather, is in the context of my *own* band, which is a completely surreal microcosm created only by my own delusions; i.e., as a bandleader of an obscure avant-garde goth band, you can't offer your collaborators much and there's a lot of guilt that goes along with that… but sometimes you get to share awesome stuff like this: I'm extremely happy and excited to announce that Kayo Dot will be performing in Japan this summer! We'll be doing two concerts, June 11 and 12 - venues/cities will be announced soon! This country has long been at the top of my list for places in the world I'd love to see. I've never been anywhere in east Asia, and have been pursuing performing in Japan for a long time. I'm so glad that this is finally a reality for us, and grateful to the people that are helping make it all happen. That said, since we'll be in the western Pacific, we're interested in seeing if we can do additional shows in southeast Asia or Australia in the weeks after the Japanese shows. If you're someone who books shows and would like to help us with this, please get in touch with me at band@kayodot.net !!!!
