MARE COGNITUM  is a one man black metal project for Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. MARE COGNITUM has made waves in the U.S. black metal scene with his unique brand of melodic black metal, blended with  viscous riffing and epic atmospheres. 

MARE COGNITUM'S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" kicks off with "ANTARESIAN". A post metal riff rides through "ANTARESIAN", as melodic riffs paint the tracks atmosphere with beautiful and epic melancholy textures. 

 MARE COGNITUM'S "FROZEN STAR DIVINIZATION" invoked epic, melodic atmosphere, ear candy for the masses. At 4:12, "FROZEN STAR DIVINIZATION" turns on it's head with a topsy turvy riff seguing back into melodic majesty. "FROZEN STAR DIVINIZATION''S riff featured at 8:10 is simply crushing.

  MARE COGNITUM''S  "TERRA REQUIEM"  enters at snails pace invoking melodic doom melodies and astral atmospheres. Beautiful, melodic solos and light keyboards adorn "TERRA REQUIEM" as the ballad is perfect for stargazing. At 7:18,  "TERRA REQUIEM" changes pace with blastbeats consolidating an epic atmosphere with melodic black metal. .  . 

   MARE COGNITUM''S "LUMINOUS ACCRETION" features both a prominent keyboard and  melodic guitar riffing. "LUMINOUS ACCRETION" features a wide variety of excellent riffing peppered with awesome melodic guitar solos. .At 5:42,  "LUMINOUS ACCRETION" turns the tables with some awesome driving riffs and tasty epic keyboards. At 7:07, "LUMINOUS ACCRETION" breaks down for a slower dynamic of epic doom atmospheres,. The emotional slow to fast dynamic of "LUMINOUS ACCRETION" will have you throw your horns in the air, and that closing riff, CRUSHING!!!

MARE COGNITUM'S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" closes with " ATARAXIA TUNNELS" , a slightly heavier track with catchy guitar melodies, and driving thrash rhythms. . " ATARAXIA TUNNELS" invokes majestic atmospheres and insightful songwriting. Clocking in at 12: 31, " ATARAXIA TUNNELS" features a wide variety of rolling riffs, wondrous understated melodies, an excellent vocal performance and soaring guitar solos. 

 MARE COGNITUM''S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" is an epic journey, as infinite as the cosmos. 

The U.S. black metal scene has been criticized for being too generic and full of clones. 

 MARE COGNITUM' breaks negative stereotypes and over all convention of worldwide black metal scene. 

 MARE COGNITUM seamlessly  meld epic atmospheres with a riff o rama of melodic black metal. 

While MARE COGNITUM''S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" features tracks ranging in ten to 12 minutes, the wide variety of engaging and insightful riffs paint a collage of soaring atmospheres..MARE COGNITUM'S  "SOLAR PAROXYSM" consolidates complex riffing within the structure of excellent songwriting resulting in an addicting listen. 

 

JAKOB BUCZARSKI has out done him self as  MARE COGNITUM''S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" features epic songwriting, excellent production and musicianship.

.  MARE COGNITUM''S "SOLAR PAROXYSM" is the perfect soundtrack to stargazing and enjoying nature as perhaps this release defines the new wave of U.S. black metal.
