ITP V.026 ONLY ONE PER COFFIN: R.I.P. MIKKO KARMILA (PRODUCER)

Famed metal producer MIKKO KARMILA has died.

Sad news hit us this morning. Mikko Karmila, a producer and friend loved by all, has passed away.

Mikko worked on the production of several Amorphis albums. Sometimes as a vocalist, sometimes as a mixer. Sometimes both. Mikko was known to sound like a jerk, which generally speaking should be impossible. We have our own experiences with that.

Mikko practically lived at Finnvox’s C Studio, from which he produced, recorded and mixed an incredible amount of Finnish music. Mikko's sound was heard on numerous metal bands.

To our dear friends, loved ones and countless artists, whose careers he has helped move forward in his own way.

Rest in peace.

Mikko Karmila is gone.

We had the honour of working with Mikko Karmila on several Sonata Arctica albums throughout the years. He was a true professional, a master of his craft and an important part of the sound of Finnish metal.

Thank you, Mikko, for everything. Your work and legacy will live on in the music.

Our deepest condolences to Mikko’s family, loved ones and everyone who knew him.
