ITP V.011 UPDATE: BLOGSPOT NEW INTERFACE? (ME LIKED THE OLD VERSION BETTER) HUMANITY IS DOOMED (DOOM METAL NEWS) TODAY/ ITP V.011 SHOW REVIEW T'NITE
http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com/2011/07/bloggers-updated-interface-now.html
Has anyone logged into BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER today? SURPRISE! There is a new OPTIONAL interface in your DASHBOARD. There is link in your DASHBOARD "Try the updated Blogger interface, modern and.." It's up to you, my suggestion, don't bother and don't bother ME about this, I bet the info regarding the new BLOGSPOT interface leaked before BLOGSPOT bloggers were informed. LAAAAME.
:Rolls Eyes: For some reason, I panicked, I raised my eyebrows and stated "No, I'm used to, I prefer and like the OLD BLOGSPOT interface". It's like fucking a new girlfriend (I know, terrible, analogy).
ITP V.011 is about to write and post HUMANITY IS DOOMED (DOOM METAL NEWS) today and the last thing I need is to figure out a new "interface" as I really like certain features on the old interface, (link under TITLE, ect) as it would hypothetically take a few days to learn the new interface. I don't have a few days. I'll keep you updated on the new BLOGSPOT interface, I don't think, but I'm not sure if it's mandatory, the new interface vs. BLOGGERS old interface may be optional.
FROM BLOGGER HELP:
You use http://draft.blogger.com
This new interface doesn't have Edit HTML option. You need to use the old interface of Blogger in Draft
- Find the ID of your Blog
- Then call the old version using
http://draft.blogger.com/html?blogID=
I hope this will help you
--
I'm sure that the NEW BLOGSPOT interface is a BETA test, as it MIGHT become a mandatory interface. If ya don't like the new BLOGSPOT interface, don't blame me, protest on the BLOGGER "HELP FORUM" to BLOGGER/BLOGSPOT:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger/thread?tid=28106b6d309319fb&hl=en
FROM THE NEXT WEB: These changes will be rolling out from today, and users should gradually be given the option to switch to the new interface over the next few ...
I'm guessing, maybe I SHOULD learn the new BLOGGER/BLOGSPOT interface, it may take a while as I prefer that my post count does NOT shrink while learning, specifically while writing metal news features and reviews as those ITP features are time consuming.
BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER, during the fall of 2009, BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER offered a new editor for posting, I didn't like that and kept with the old post editor. Sorry, I'm old school.
However, I DID try and liked the MYSPACE new interface as that has a TWITTER/MYSPACE synced live feed, (PUURFECT for nubes like me on TWITTER whom haven't added all thier freinds from MYSPACE to TWITTER. I have over 1, 800 friends on MYSPACE, many whom have left for FACEBOOK or/and TWITTER) as that indeed is an improvement over MYSPACE's fall 2010 upgrade.
As we all know, many left MYSPACE for FACEBOOK and many whom would hypothetically use both MYSPACE and FACEBOOK (primarily bands) were alienated via the MYSPACE 2010 "upgrade".
BLOGSPOT and GOOGLE had been BETA TESTING the new BLOGGER and GOOGLE interface (I noticed the new GOOGLE interface btw, ok?-I didn't notice any beta testing of the new BLOGSPOT, lmao until NOW) since spring early summer 2011.
In a worst case scenario, I'll test out the new BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER interface, if I don't like it and specifically if it becomes mandatory I'll export ITP elsewhere. We'll see, I'll try to be "open minded".
BTW, this blog entry is via the old BLOGSPOT interface.

Try Blogger's New Interface
Google promised a new Blogger interface back in March and started a limited test in April. "The new design is not only cleaner and more modern, but it also uses Google Web Toolkit, delivering the latest in web technology."
The new interface is now available in Blogger in Draft, but it looks quite different. "Over the last couple of months, we've made significant improvements to our new user interface. First and foremost, we've incorporated your feedback and made numerous fixes based on that feedback. Also, we've updated the look and feel of our new design, inspired by Google's newest design evolutions," explains Google. Blogger uses Ajax, so all the pages load a lot faster, including the post editor. Unfortunately, Blogger is still very slow when you perform a search and try to display posts or comments.
Blogger's new UI is cleaner and it offers additional information about your posts: the number of pageviews. Tabs have been replaced by a vertical menu and the list of labels is now a drop-down. The post editor is much better, especially if you use the default view. Blogger's new editor takes up most of the page and post settings are now included in a sidebar.
There's a lot of white space in the new interface, buttons aren't big enough to be readable and Blogger includes too much information that's not very useful: the total number of published comments and the total number of pageviews. The new interface is a mixed bag: it's modern, clean, faster and more powerful, but there are many things that need to be changed before replacing the existing interface.
You can try the new UI at draft.blogger.com and you also have the option to make it the default interface.
FROM THE NEXT WEB:
Google’s Blogger is one of the grand old daddies of blog platforms and while remaining widely used, there’s no doubt that the interface itself is looking a bit tired these days. It looks like that’s set to change this year as Google has today teased us with a glimpse at a radical overhaul.
At first look, we’d say WordPress has been an influence on the design of the new dashboard. Google says it’s been built using its Web Toolkit for creating high performance Ajax-based UIs. That ‘WordPress-y’ look seems a little less obvious in the new post composing window, which seems to hold on to a little more of that old-school Blogger look, while not making us feel like it’s still 2005.
Google is also offering a first look at a content discovery tool that it says “lets you uncover interesting and related content based on the topics of the blog you’re currently reading”. The video below offers glimpses of it all, along with a look at some very sexy mobile themes that it appears will enlivening phone screens at some point this year.
There’s no word on exactly when these new designs will be rolled out other than a vague “2011″, but if you’re a staunch supporter of Blogger I’m sure you’ll be watching keenly.
FROM TUNTECH:
The all new Blogger 2011 interface is here! Major improvements resolved around layout and design.
Blogger has been promising its users of great upgrades and major reconstruction of the Blogger interface in 2011. Earlier this year, Blogger has published a video on its Youtube channel where it shows a glimpse of the all-new 2011 Blogger, though, it was never available to try in Blogger in Draft after the publishing of that video.
Just today, I somehow clicked on Blogger in Draft to see if there is any new features. Unexpectedly, the very anticipated Blogger 2011 interface poped out and I was in total chock for few seconds. Now, what I first notice is the complete make-over that Blogger has under taken. The new Blogger theme is a mix of orange and grey colors rather than the old blue, brownish and orange colors. The design seemed more stylish and I actually liked it very much since they've given up on the ugly font of 'Trebuchet' -- Only God knows how much I dislike that font --. To sum it up, the work that Blogger engineers did revolved majorly around the graphical interface. I didn't notice a new feature or soever. The re-design consisted of icons, fonts, colors and general layout enhancements.
The first good thing about about the new layout is that all tabs have been transformed into a left sidebar with small icons. Now, each time you click on a tab in the older Blogger interface, this will result accessing a new page, as if you've refreshed the page entirely or you've clicked on a link so the browser will load a new page, however with the new tabs, things are more dynamic. Your Blogger will update the content without the need of refreshing the page. It's like web 2.0. The new user of the 2011 Blogger might feel disoriented at first sight, thus exploring pages as a first step is quite important to get used to the new layout since everything has literally changed from bottom to top.
Good things about the 2011 Blogger interface:
1. The design is pretty slick, the font and colors are in great fusion with the background and the overall page seems clear and well represented.
2. The dynamic content browsing feature can be time-saving for you (Anything done in the old Blogger resulted a page loading, not anymore with the new Blogger dynamic interface)
3. When you post a new post, your editor will spread across the page entirely so you'd be able to focus on your writing.
4. A nice overview tab has been added to the homepage of your Blogger dashboard: it gives a great insight on how your blog is doing.
Bad things about the 2011 Blogger interface:
1. No new features or templates got added, just visual improvements.
2. The make-over didn't keep any aspect of the previous interface so everything has been moved off its original place and you might disoriented at first encounter with the new interface.
3.The Blogger 2011 interface is still beta.
EDIT HTML IN NEW BLOGGER INTERFACE: (BTW, some widgets are installed via "EDIT HTML", I'm guessing the WIDGETS will perish after one transfers to the new BETA BLOGGER INTERFACE, you'll have to re install anything that you used "EDIT HTML" for):
If you are using the Blogger in Draft version and are looking for the Online Edit HTML Feature for Blogger/Blogspot blogs, you can for the time being access it at the URL:
http://www.blogger.com/html?blogID=[YOUR BLOG'S ID]
If you don’t know your blog’s ID, just go to your Blog Dashboard Page for the particular blog, and copy the blog ID from that URL Address. The entire URL is like:
http://draft.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=[YOUR BLOG'S ID]#overview
So, just copy the Blog ID from there and paste it in the first URL Address to access the old Edit HTML Page. You might also want to bookmark the link to access it directly in the future.
If you want to stop using this workaround, I’ve also outlined an alternate method to Edit HTML code of your Blogger/Blogspot blog’s template below in detail.
Go to the Blogger/Blogspot dashboard or home page and click on the “Dashboard” link of the blog whose template html code you want to edit, present in the left sidebar.
Now, once you are in the blog’s dashboard page, click on the template link in the left sidebar.
Once you are on the template page of the blog, scroll down to the bottom of the page in order to edit or change the blog template’s html code.
At the bottom of the blog’s template page, you can see two links, one to upload/download the blog’s html template code as an xml file, and another option to change or revert the blog’s template to one of the classic templates. Choose the first option and another menu will automatically appear.
Once you see the links to upload and download the HTML template as an xml file, click on the download button to download the current template, and save it. Now make a copy of the original template file and save it inside another folder, to avoid changing the original template by creating a backup.
Once you have saved a copy of the original xml template file, open the file with a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad for Microsoft Windows, or say Emacs file editor for linux installations or an equivalent Mac application. Make the changes you need to make and save the new edited template xml file.
After saving the new template, upload it to the blogger server, by going to the webpage previously opened and clicking on the Browse and upload button below the download template button.
After uploading the new edited version of the template you can review the changes on the blog, and if necessary re-edit the template and upload it again, until you are satisfied with the final layout.
IMPORTANT NOTE***
To avoid any rude shocks, make sure you save a copy of the template before you begin editing it, and preferably, make a copy of the edited template each time you make a change, so that you can go back to the previous versions and find out what went wrong in case there is a problem.
FROM PC WORLD:
Google has been tinkering with the interface of its blogging platform, Blogger, for months, and it's finally rolling out the changes it's made across the service. On Wednesday, Google announced that the changes--which should make the interface easier to use and more efficient--will be appearing shortly.
Blogger's graphics have been improved, but it doesn't stop there. According to Blogger Product Manager Chang Kim, "We've rewritten the entire editing and management experience from scratch so it’s faster and more efficient for you—and easier for us to update and improve over time," Kim wrote in a company blog.
Since posting to a blog is the most important thing for bloggers, Google has made accessing the editor for writing and modifying posts smoother and swifter. Whether a blogger is in dashboard mode or on the settings page, they can return to the posting editor by clicking a button at the tops of those pages.
The post editor has been simplified and expanded to offer more space for writing and reviewing posts.
The dashboard also has a new look--now it has an "Overview" section. This section gives bloggers a quick snapshot of activity at their blog. It has a graph of recent traffic numbers, for instance. It also gives bloggers a view of recent comment activity and a tally of follower counts. And for inspiration, the section includes helpful links, a feed of updates from other bloggers and a showcase of other blogs that Google thinks will interest the blogger.
Another alteration in the new interface is the replacement of the "Monetization" tab with an "Earnings" tab. This change is primarily cosmetic, but is part of Google's efforts to make the language it uses throughout its services easier for users to understand.
Whether it's called Monetization or Earnings, the tab still refers to income earned by a blogger through AdSense ads placed on their blog pages. When AdSense is activated through the tab, Blogger automatically retrieves earnings information from AdSense, saving the blogger a trip to the AdSense Website.
Google has been touting the Blogger changes since March. Even though Blogger has consistently been one of the top 10 visited websites on the Internet, it has changed very little for more than a decade. In its first major upgrade in 2004, for example, the Blogger dashboard was enlarged and improved to allow posting by email. In 2006, it allowed blog posts to be categorized and drag-and-drop to be used when laying out pages. And…that's about it.
Recently, though, up-and-coming services such as Tumblr have outshined Blogger with slick interfaces, mobile apps, and better content discovery systems. More importantly, though, is that the new blogging services found ways to incorporate social networking techniques into what they offer. That social networking slant is something Google hopes to cash in on, too, with its Blogger revamp.
